Hey Escapist,

I'm a pretty big fan of the Jedi Knight games. They've got a lot going for them: a fairly decent single player, a good multiplayer, amazing lightsaber combat and a gripping storyline and setting. However, the last Jedi Knight game was made in (I think) 2003, so this is my question to you:

Would you like to see another Jedi Knight game, perhaps made on something similar to the Source engine? All I can see is adapting the gravity-gun-esque mechanics and using that for pushing Stormtroopers off cliffs... *grins* Do you think this is a good idea, or would it be one game too far?

I've been patiently awaiting a Jedi Academy sequel for a long time now, and it seems after TFU 2 that no one likes that stupid series anyway and they'll get back to the good Star Wars games.

I personally would prefer a JA 2 over a continuation of the Jedi Knight series proper, I like Kyle Katarn and all but making your own jedi and working your way up the ranks is just too cool to pass up.

To sum up, yeah, I would love to see a new iteration in the Jedi Knight series.

Loads of people are still modding that game to this day... I'm serious.

Hell yes I'll buy it with mods to boot.

I'd be up for a Dark Forces 5 game, yeah. Updated Force telekinesis combined with the old saber-tracking mechanic and updated physics would be pretty awesome.

I absolutely loved those games, and I would buy a new one. First person needs to stay in, even with lightsaber. First person with the console commands for realistic saber combat made Outcast one of my favorite games. I still haven't been able to get JK working on a modern system. I can get JKII and JKIII playing beautifully though, as well as DF in DOSBox.

Dark Forces was one of my favorite games when I was younger, jumping and crouching added to the Doom series, plus a good storyline made it a classic. When DFII came out with Quake like graphics, sabers and the force, it blew my mind. I think JKII was my favorite, just because they took out Kyle Katarn as main and didn't allow for first person sabers in JKIII.

A modern game, taking the playstyle of JK, with the lessons learned from the Force Unleashed. (While sometimes fun, I would use that game as a target to avoid feeling like.) That would be beautiful. Honestly though, without the "realistic" saber combat that you could enable in previous games, and without the first person perspective as an option, I wouldn't be as interested. I have no interest in playing with lightbats with a floating camera. :p

Sounds like a lark. I'd be more than happy to buy and play another Jedi Knight. But after the overpoweredness of Starkiller in Force Unleashed, I don't think many mainstream gamers will appreciate the toned-down Jedi of the former series, which would reduce projected sales. :\

Damn good games - they had the best lightsaber duelling of any Star Wars game.

I remember force-choke being incredibly overpowered, just hold someone over a pit and... drop. Good times.

[EDIT]

YES! FOUND IT!

One of THE best moments in gaming.

Also, once they were in the air, you could just gently FORCE PUSH and they'd go flying into the abyss. Loved that level.

Jedi Knight Dark forces 3 please. But only if they bring back the fmvs with real actors.

JKDF2 was incredible. The more recent jedi knight games were good but nowhere near as good as the original.

I would kill for another Jedi Knight game, but for it not to suck ass Lucas Arts can't be involved on any level whatsoever... so we got a bit of a problem there.

I wouldn't mind another Jedi Knight game, maybe one that follows on from the dark side ending of Academy where you have to hunt down Jaden before he/she can cause any damage....I just want an excuse to play as Kyle again.
