So, I stumbled upon the Restored Content Mod for KOTOR 2 and I was wondering if it changes things drastically or what?

I beat the vanilla version lots of times, one of my favorite games, favorite star wars game and it seems that a lot of people hated it.
I later found out that there were complete files on the disc that were just sitting there, not included into the game because it was rushed.

My question is Is it worth playing the game again with this mod or is it just a few objects here and there etc. ?

I haven't experienced the mod myself, although I plan to. From what I read, it fills in SOME (emphasis on some, since the game was rushed.) of the gaps between KOTOR and KOTOR II. You find out some of the character's back stories, for example who Kreia actually is and a little of how she came to be. As far as content wise, it's a pretty big change, from reading how much content is actually missing in the game I would recommend playing it again with the mod. For more insight on what's in it, look it up on the star wars wiki, or wookiepedia (sp?).

It improves the game fairly drastically in a number of areas, most importantly by creating an ending that actually makes sense.

Games still rough and there's still missing content, but by and large with the mod installed Kotor 2 is a much, much better game and if you own the game on PC there's absolutely no reason not to download it unless you're some sort of masochist who enjoys playing an inferior version of the game despite a better version being available to you free of charge.

IIRC there's a whole other planet that was cut out, full of robots or something, and it sounds like a bar code more then a planet.

I don't know if this is part of the restored content or just another mod outright, i'll go check.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/M4-78 here we go, this planet was cut from the final edit.

That's not part of the mod. It was cut early in development, there is a mod that restores some of it, but it kind of sucks and is glitchy.

The restored content really helped me like the game more, it definitely adds some really good parts (like the HK Factory. Best HK scene ever).

Thanks guys.
Gonna start a new playthrough later today.
I don't really know why, but I LOVE this game, it's crazy. I can play it 10 times and not get bored.

Hey btw, a few months ago I read something about beating the game 2 times (1 light,1 dark path) and then start a 3rd playthrough and you can play as...don't remember exactly, something along the lines of a "grey jedi"...you know, not good, not bad. Anyone know anything about this?

it actually does fill in quite a bit!

these are both the major restoration mods that add in a decent chunk to the game

http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/TSL_Restored_Content_Mod;115177

http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.com/file/TSL_UnRestored_Content;97454

i would recommend both of those highly!

mostly what they do is add in cutscenes and dialogue options that weren't there before, and also add in some gameplay that was cut in the game initially (when your on nar shadaa, you will control atton and bao-dur to beat those mercenaries and save mira instead of just having the cutscene skip that gameplay)

oh and if you are using those do NOT use the m4-78 planet restoration mod, it REFUSES to work together with those, which is really crappy (the m4-78 mod brings back that whole robot planet they had mentioned briefly in which you actually meet master vonna lash on there instead of having her die at korriban, i've tried using all those mods together and it glitches majorly when you meet her there)

if you have any questions or anything feel free to PM me!

I don't know about that but I have seen that if you play a through a certain number of times (perhaps 3) Atton has fourth wall breaking dialogue when you meet him. If you're female he says "Are you an angel? Ha, just kidding. Hope some poor kid doesn't try using that."

If you then ask him who he is, he'll go into a commentary about how his character was implemented and how he was actually added at the last minute. Was pretty funny the first time I saw it.

Edit: oh right the mod. Yeah I played through a couple of times with it installed and it does make a difference especially towards the end. You still find extra stuff all through the game but the Final Act is where most of the work was focused as that was where most of the game was cut. The HK factory in particular is brilliant and a nice conclusion for HK-47. And they actually show you what happened to your companions when they landed on Malachor. In short, an essential mod for any KotOR fan.

you are already a grey jedi in the game.
You can make good/neutral/bad choice any time you want.

if you were pure jedi, you be mr nice guy
if you were pure sith, you be mr bad guy
if you were neutral, YOU HAVE NO STRONG FEELINGS EITHER WAY!
Technically you have very strong feelings neither way. Being dedicated neutral is hard work.
