Star Wars needs a reboot. Reboot the Original Trilogy, Reboot the Prequel Story, Reboot everything.

By retconning what was established in the Force Awakens? By clearly not having a solid vision for this new trilogy?

Heck the movie parially retcons Luke Skywalker's charcater, what have they done this guy here in the Last Jedi!?

I have so much ideas on my vision of Star Wars that's better than how Disney is handling them.

Somebody's creative ambitions have vastly overshot their experience and discipline. By your own admission, you haven't even seen the new movie.

Okay, dude. Let's be fair. Start from the very beginning and tell me what your reboot movie would look like. What's the plot? What are the stakes? Who are our protagonists and antagonists? Do you have a cast in mind? Do you want to direct or just write?

How I would do it? Focus more on the faction war between the Jedi/Republic and the Sith/Empire. This is Star WARS, not Star Adventures like how Ezekial keeps telling me.

Make each of the races have more deeper backstory with richer culture than what was established. We already got it right with Mandolrians and Wookies, have the other races have a more deeper culture. And personally I would cut out most of the races that are just litirally re-colored humans.

The Force would have to be set with limits on what the Force Users can and cannot do. In the old E.U. Luke and crush entire fleets with his mind.

Re-imagine the Jedi, how I would do it is this, make the Jedi Knight litirally a Knight in Space. With all the chivalry philosophy of justice and honor and valor and defending the innocent and meek alike and such, these guys are more than willing to fight in Wars when duty calls to the defense of the Republic and to the forces of evil from bringing about despair and ruin and these guys would wear Armor along with Robes. I would also introduce another class of Jedi that are more Wizard/Sage/Wisemen like and more focused on the Force and keeping peace and serenity in the Galaxy. And these Jedi would hold the Jedi Knights on a leash and temper their wrath and passions lest they fall to the Dark Side.

The Sith would reletively survive the transition except I would eliminate the whole Rule of Two thing and just have the Sith be this big and great and dangerous menace to the Republic as the Empire from SWTOR.

Have the politics in the Republic and the Empire and have it make sense of course and intreguing. This would introduce intreaguing political characters and such on both sides.

And most of all don't make the faction War between the Jedi/Republic and the Sith Empire one sided in terms of power. Both factions should be on equal footing.

And the main characters would not be a farmboy from some backwater planet but Generals and Polticians and Leaders and Soldiers and Spies.

Eh, I for one think we need to let Star Wars go. I'm under absolutely no impression Disney, of all things on this planet, is about to let that happen while there's still the slightest, thinnest squirt of money to be milked from that particular cow, but I'm of the Bill Watterson school of thought - it's always better to leave the party early than to run a good thing into the ground.

Where did you get the idea that Luke made those maps? From what I understand the maps predate TFA. According to the novelization, the part that R2D2 had was from the Imperial archives, and the missing part is what Poe recovers at the beginning of TFA (though I don't know where the old man got it from). The map shows the location of the first Jedi Temple and according to Han in TFA everyone believes Luke left to find the first Jedi Temple after Kylo rebelled. However, i'm not sure if its explained how or why everyone assumed that Luke was searching for the temple.

Regardless, its possible that Luke's journey to find the Temple was originally meant to be some kind of pilgrimage to help him clear his mind and regain his confidence after the disaster with Kylo. Obviously that didn't happen and he decided to live out the rest of his days there.

And I thought Mass Effect 3 as a whole was good. Especially with all DLC in mind.

But anyway I have watched a good number of the reviewers explaining in great detail and with spoilers what is wrong with the moive and read the negative posts here about it.

I know the movie already, watchinhg it would be a waste of time really, but unless you really want me to see it with my own eyes and form my own opinion fine.

At least I get to see Snoke for the last time, I was excited for this character as being one of the better big bads in Star Wars history and they just killed him, now I am stuck with Kylo Ren.

Frankly, rebooting is an exercise in laziness, a sign you've run out of ideas, messed up your IP (and can't be bothered to fix it), or just want to cash in on nostalgia. Every so often we get a reboot that revitalizes a franchise (Casino Royale, Batman Begins), or one that adds to an IP rather than nuking old continuity (e.g. Star Trek 2009), and soft reboots can work (e.g. Jurassic World), but these are the exceptions rather than the rule. Star Wars doesn't need a reboot, and IMO, never needed one in the first place.

At this point, Star Wars is an annualized franchise.
Don't expect a reboot until 5-10 years after they run it dry.

In the mean time, expect lots prequels, side stories, etc. just so that they can release a movie every year.

I don't know about that. I recently watched the original trilogy and it still holds up pretty well. Also, the movies are still making tons of cash. The Last Jedi had the second largest opening in cinema history... Second to The Force Awakens. Fans wouldn't go for it, either.

On the other hand, I could get behind remakes of the prequel trilogy only this time they could make them watchable and entertaining.

There's a lot to unpack here, but let's start here. Why this decision?

Mostly because I feel the wars would be much more interesting if both sides are on equel footing and power.

I want to see both the good guys and the bad guys at thier best when fighting each other for the fate of the Galaxy.

Imagine the Republic and the Jedi Order as shown in the prequels battles the Sith Empire as shown in the Original Trilogy, and have more Sith characters than just the Emperor and Darth Vader.

As for the characters being generals and lords and such, I am just tired of the main character being some random nobody that ends up being the greatest hero ever. I want a grizzled veteren that has a past, I want an ambitious general looking for glory, I want a conniving Dark Lord that will do everything scumbag thing he can do the bring down the republic.

The question then becomes where do you get the drama? The point of the Empire being so powerful in comparison to the Rebel Alliance was that the odds have to appear impossible to overcome.

What I did was made the backdrop, the setting, the established world and its characters. I did not write a story to go along with it yet. Infact I would like to know what kind of story you would make the set up I presented?
