Id go check it out. I can imagine some of the scenes being quite spectacular in 3D, like the underwater chase sequence and the pod race.
If it's done properly, I can see this succeeding in spades. If not...well, I always have the movies in regular 2D.
The good news is that you don't have to watch it.

The only 3D film I have seen which has used the technology effectively, as in enhanced the movie, was the recent resident evil.
Most 3D is god awful and is patched onto what was intended to be a purely 2D film. If the film wasn't made originally for 3D don't do it, it looks awful.
