No, he was a clone of a species that believed their dna was perfect, so they stopped reproducing normally. Dorsk 81 was considered an outcast, which is why he left his homeplanet to train as a jedi.

Bast castle was on the planet Vjun, I don't remember if there was anything special about it besides it was his castle and later the base for dark jedi.
