There is something that bugged me after finishing SC2 and then going back and doing the alternate missions.
It seems the game goes and shifts environment and setting just to cater for the choice you made and gives you repercussions you can live with for your first intended choice.
Let me explain:
For the first choice, I sided the Doc and saved the colonists. After your noble victory the doc thanks you, gives you and everyone?s happy.
But if you choose the KILL THEM WITH FIRE option, the scenario is completely changed and suddenly there are no saveable colonists. After that the Doc turns into something nasty and well, you know how that ends. After seeing, I thought Jim was a complete prick.
Lastly, I sided with Tosh. After doing his mission, lo and behold, the Doctor tells you that actually Spectres aren't the murders the Dominion makes them out to be. When I went back and did Nova's mission, Tosh ends up dying. I actually felt sorry for him; I don?t remember feeling sorry for a fictional character in a very long time. Again, I felt that Jim was being a prick. Before Tosh dies, Jim tells him that he doesn't get it and blah blah blah ? It's in very stark contrast to what he says if you sided with Tosh.
Anyway, I may be turning a mole hill into a mountain but I don't think they should given the player choices in this game. Jim Raynor is Jim Raynor, and the "Renegade" (read: prick) options didn't seem to fit him.
