I'm not sure how much of a following Starcraft has on the Escapist, so I originally posted this idea on the battle.net forums. If you frequent both, that is why you will see this.

I am sure everyone has some kind of idea for a new unit to add to HotS, or some new game mechanic that no one has ever thought of, but I am certain that no one has ever had my idea (at least I hope).

My idea is technically not a new unit, it is modifying an existing "unit", namely, the creep.

While watching some ZvZ games at IPL4, I got thinking "a player wants to extend their creep so they can get to their opponent faster, but doesn't want to extend it too far because it lets their enemy get to them faster as well". This got me thinking "why not a creep that only helps that player?"

So here are my proposed creep upgrades/abilities (I have no idea how any of these would balance or work, they are just ideas):
- In ZvZ, a player can get a 50 mineral/50 gas upgrade from their Lair that upgrades the creep so it spreads slightly faster and does not benefit the enemy Zerg
- In ZvT, a player can get a 150 mineral/100 gas upgrade from their Lair that upgrades the creep so all buildings regenerate health quite a bit faster
- In ZvZ, a player can get a 200 mineral/100 gas upgrade from their Hive that upgrades the creep so it slows down the enemy Zerg slightly (also affects flying units)
- In ZvP, a player can get a 200 mineral/200 gas upgrade from their Hive that upgrades the creep so it slows down/stops Protoss shield regeneration while on creep

These are just a few of the ideas I have had for upgrading the creep, most of the other ones I have had apply to specific aspects of ZvZ that I won't go into. The only details I have worked about any of these, is that player A's creep would be different from player B (perhaps a lighter/darker shade of their unit colour?), and player B would be able to see what upgrades player A has on their creep by either checking the creep tumors (which will still need detection of course), or some kind of graphic on the creep (small pools of creep juice? small spikes along the edges?) Obviously, all of these would have to be tweaked so they don't break the game, I would just like to see the creep be able to be upgraded since it is so interesting and so vital to any Zerg player (literally).

So what do you think of my idea?

Boy, that sorta' techno hunky doe stuff ain't sumthin' most of us standard players would really understand the balancing and the whatnots of.

Oh, I'm sorry if it seems too technical for you.
I don't play much ladder, but I watch a lot of pro games (I have a stream of Destiny playing right now, lol) so I know quite a bit about this stuff.

Would you like me to simplify it for you?

I like the creep idea but protos's sheilds not regenrating as fast I can't get behind.

My idea for HOTS is a new protos unit. Protos dosen't seem to have alot of cheap ground DPS or speed. I'd like to see a ground unit that was faster outer the gate way but weaker then a Zelot or Starker. If a new unit doeswn't work why not upgrade the shields on protos so they had an overboot like stempack for Tarrens, only it would leve the Pro with out shields for a certain amout of time.

I'd also like an upgrade to the High and Dark Templars
