Why can't I stop watching? Why are Banelings adorable?

In the case of the former, I cannot say. I'd like to say something like "it's like a train wreck" but it isn't really bad, it's just completely free of meaning. Perhaps there's some kind of post-modern appeal to it; you enjoy the release of not having to find meaning in it and can just be entertained by the fact that someone went to the effort of doing it.
In the case of the latter, it's all a matter of presentation, by which I mean the selection of music did it for you.

Or perhaps I'm just talking out of my ass. I'm an lit studies major; I do that sometimes.

The StarCraft II beta hasn't even been out for a month yet, but people are already using it to make stupid yet incredibly entertaining videos.


If there is one thing that is true about the internet - especially with the advent of YouTube - it's that you can give people anything and they will find some way to make a stupid video out of it.

And now, people are doing it with the StarCraft II beta, as seen above. It's a bunch of Zerg Hydralisks and Banelings (led by Infested Flatley, of course) doing a choreographed routine set to the music from "Lord of the Dance." It's ... I don't even know, guys. This is so incredibly pointless and yet just stupidly entertaining in its own little way.

Why can't I stop watching? Why are Banelings adorable?

Really awesome! But, I would have really liked to see a Protoss Homeworld come and blow them away for the finale, as retribution for doing lord of the dance in the middle of a battlefield. Oh what sweet irony it would have been!

But a cute Baneling? It looks like a brown glove filled with radioactive snot! The only way I could consider it cute is if it blew up on my enemies!
