Learn a lesson from a game, you say?

Back in 1994, Phantasy Star IV on Sega Genesis taught me that games, RPG's in particular, can really be works of art in both graphics and narrative. The story may have been butchered when compared to the real Japanese title, but at the time I was none the wiser. I learned that it's possible to convey emotion through even tiny sprites on a screen.

As far as typing goes, I taught myself over time. I had to do all those typing exercises in school too... on Apple II computers. Helped a little bit but I was more interested in playing Oregon Trail at the time. Also had some typing programs on my VIC-20 at home... you can imagine how much use they got.

Nowadays, I'm really anal about proper punctuation and grammar when I type. It pains me to have to read peoples' shorthand and "L33tspeak" on the internet.

Learned Greek mythology from God of War :D
Learned all about rifles from COD, I went to a gun show with my Dad and frankly, he was amazed at my ability to name every gun at the whole damn show.
Then you are severely deprived of proper Greek mythological learnings.

This site taught me how to type.

Before I found this place, I couldn't type to save my life.

I didn't pick up typing, I was born with the innate knowledge. Also I am from the future.

Dunno how well games have helped me type, but I just did those from muscle memory.

Just wondering if any other of you guys out there claim learning valuable lessons from a game/gaming experience
English; I once said I would never have any use for it, and eventually started playing games. Thanks to them, I got out as the best in class with A's and just a few B's in English.
Gotta love gaming.

Had three years of IT and two years of GCSE 'Business and Communication systems' (so that's five years of learning to type) and at the end of it all I was still pretty slow at typing. I'm now pretty good at typing and can type pretty quickly thanks to playing battlefield, where you have to type a message quickly or DIE! While you're typing you can't move, shoot or look around, so if an enemy comes round the corner mid sentence, you're dead.

Also learned quite alot about guns from games. Though if you're trying to convince an asshole...sorry, game hater that games are a good source of learning, using that as an exampble isn't a great idea.

Technically, being a young kid from the 90's and having access to the internet taught me typing, but then there was Mavis Beacon, and my personal favorite, Mario Teaches Typing.
