No big loss, compared to Atlantis and SG1, Universe was shit.

Seriously, from the word go the only character I ever liked was Rush, and from the start it always seemed like you were never supposed to like him.
Every other character was just a bland, stock, generic cliché and I'm honestly glad they're done with the series, it was just...So mediocre when it could have been so much more.

Whatever SG:U was, at least it was better than all that stupid shit.

These days? Wait for a show to play and end naturally, buy the DVD/pay for VOD. It wouldn't be so bad over here in the UK, but we have a fucking telly tax.

I'm not surprised. SG1 was a masterpiece, SGA was great and SGU was utter crap. SGU ruined Stargate's wonderful legacy. I could never believe how they could screw it up so much, and am not surprised Syfy finally realised their mistake.

If they wanted to milk Battle-star Galactica they should have done another spin-off of that, not Stargate.

Wish Fox would let go of the rights to Firefly. Syfy maybe would and definitely should gobble it up should that ever (unlikely) come to pass.

I was really saddened by the news. When I first saw SGU I was disappointed and it just didn't seem to feel right. About half way through Season 1 it found it's legs and since then it has been great with Season 2 being a real high point.

A lot of people really pissed and moaned about how it was too much like BSG, and not like Stargate. Well BSG was nothing at all like the original, but it was more modern and a great show. Stargate Universe didn't pull any punches and focused more on the characters which I think was great rather than trying to outdo itself in Sci-Fi concepts like the other series did (once you've blown up a sun...)

The story was interesting and the characters were great. I really hope the franchise goes on and doesn't forget the lessons learned from SGU and go back to the old style.

I'm really surprised how hateful some people are about this show. It's the best Sci-fi series on TV. I can't wait until spring for the new episodes.

Read it on Reddit last week. Speculation: if SG1 got 10 seasons, Atlantis got 5 and Universe got 2, I would predict that the next Stargate spin-off would only get one season, while the fifth spin-off would get cancelled mid-season.
