Well, because visiting artists are awesome, I've met a lot of names from the art world that you'd prolly not know and my father epically ruined a meeting with a certain movie actor that I'm not going to name because it embarrasses me to this day, and the most random of all is the former Japanese vice minister of finance, whose business card is still in my business card holder.
I don't have any good stories, though...
Still, I don't really get "Star struck." Its a novelty that's just kind of passing, and the only famous people who actually do actively pine for star attention are probably not very happy...
I guess part of it is the whole "OMG you skipped Highschool!" thing. I'm not famous, but the assumptions people make over that are exhausting and its just stupid. And I don't want to make other people feel that way. I do reserve the right to give a genuine thanks for someone who has given me a lot of joy from their work, but that's only if its appropriate to do so. I'm just as keen to do it to an obscure stranger whose work I like.
