Jamie Lannister, well the actor who plays him. He played a round of a roulette-type game in the booth I worked at in an amusement park. He had his daughter with him and a massive manly beard. Don't really get starstruck, but when I meet someone famous, that I like, I do get a bit excited. I would totally wave at Neil Degrasse Tyson for example.

I'm not really excited about celebrities but it was pretty cool when I got to 'meet' James Blunt. Also to my eternal shame, my sister dragged me around the city until we met Nick Jonas and Delta Goodrem.

I would still enjoy meeting some of my favorite Halo 3 players or Notch.

I met Craig Charles (Lister, Red Dwarf), Kenny Baker (R2D2) and Warwick Davis (Professor Flitwick) at Manchester MCM expo last year. I was impressed with the line-up, MCMs usually have quite crappy guests xD
I also saw Jimmy Carr in Scotland but didn't stop him because he looked like he didn't want to be disturbed >w<;

Had a night out with the Bloodhound Gang. After the gig me and my pals were the last ones in the club, shortly before closing time; we were just about to finish our drinks and leave when Jimmy Pop plonked himself on the seat next to me and proceeded to buy half of the club's liquor supply. We partied through the entire night with the band and a bunch of delightfully debauched girls... best night ever.

I'm in the hospitality industry and worked in a high end restaurant for six years so quite a few.

I've cooked for bands like The Corrs, AC/DC and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Even got to see Flea and the gang from their table. John Howard back when he was Prime Minister. Reg Grundy - Big Australian TV exec, owns the Grundy Television Network.

My family has had happy birthday sung to my Dad by INXS who just so happened to be dining next to us that night.

I've met Brisbane Broncos elites Wally Lewis, Alan Langer and Gene Miles.

I've chatted with Winter Olympic Gold Medalist Steve Bradbury.

I've gotten drunk with former Tea Party lead singer Jeff Martin.

Those are probably the stand outs

I studied film at a film studio in London, so I've met a few. We're not supposed to harrass them however.
Dominic West (McNulty from The Wire)
Colin Firth. I actually walked into him because I wasn't looking where I was going.
Cameron Diaz.
I gave Alan Rickman directions.

Outside of there, I met Eddie Izzard the other day.
Also I met Ewan McGregor a few years back after he did Guys and Dolls in the West End.

Had a brief encounter with Masahiko Minami (President of Studio BONES) and Masahiro Ando (Director of Sword of the Stranger) at MCM Expo one time. Got their autographs and got complimented on my pronounciation of thank you in japanese. That was pretty cool.

I cussed Colin Baker at a different year's MCM, me and a few friends walked past his booth and he was alone and as we were in front, I just said 'It's only Colin Baker'. Bit harsh probably but I'm not a big fan of old Doctor Who.

And finally, I met Stephen K Amos briefly after he did a gig at my Uni's theatre. He almost didn't believe that my name was real until I assured him. Got an autograph out of it again, not bad.

I met Rowan Atkinson in the B&Q store in Peterborough. I didn't have anything to sign or sign with so I shook his hand instead.

I met the Prince of Prussia a couple of times at work. He was part of the management of a sister company.
From what I heard if Germany would suddenly declare itself a monarchy again, he would be our new ruler. But nowadays nobody but the tabloids and themselves cares about the royality anymore. He was a cool guy though, from the way he acted and dressed you wouldn't have guessed a fancy background.

I met Scruffy Wallace from Dropkick Murphys in the pub after they'd played a gig in the academy down the road. He was meeting friends he had in Leeds, but was very friendly and happy to chat and sign things before they arrived.

I believe my mum said she met Richard O'Brien at a parents evening.
He's the father of someone that was in my brother's class.
Apparently he showed up wearing exactly what you'd expect him to wear.

When I was a lot younger, my family and I were at a restaurant with some friends in New York. We saw Wayne Gretzky and some of his Rangers team mates at the bar, having a few drinks. My brother and I went up to him to ask for his autograph. He was kind of a dick though, really abrasive and somewhat rude. I understand now that he probably didn't want to be bothered but I was 9 years old, the least he could do was humour me. I've since misplaced that autograph (not intentionally).

A few years back, I ran in to Kenny Hotz (from Kenny vs Spenny) at an airport. Pretty cool guy, gave me his autograph and we chatted a bit about the show.

Somebody's jealous.
Of what, exactly? Or of whom, exactly? The only thing famous people have that I don't have is money, and money is something I'm perfectly capable of acquiring myself.

I did a small survey about this star struck business because it really is something I just don't understand, and it's bugging me. I mean do famous people hand out orgasms or something, because if so then I might get into it as well. Anyway, nobody really seemed to understand it, other than it being 'cool'. So I figured it's probably just something people of lower intellect like to do and that I will never understand, much like religion or watching Big Brother.

Guess I'm just too far above the average joe. Oh well, it's not a bad place to be.
Wow, chill out dude, what's got you so worked up? I was merely implying that you were jealous of the escapists who'd encountered celebrities.

Really though I was just poking fun at how much you were overreacting to the thread, which is about as controversial and thoughtprovoking as a fruit salad.

It might surprise you, but not every famous person is a self-righteous asshole. Most of them probably act quite ordinary in real life. And very few people actually worship celebs the way tabloids do. Most of us get that they're simply human beings. That doesn't mean it isn't cool when you see an actor from television in real life.
