The story goes:
Me and my friend both bought Demon Souls on the same day and made a bet,
whoever beat Demon Souls first won; the loser had to buy the winner Dark Souls.
So I put a peice of wood between my teeth, put some coffee on and sharpened my pencil.
18 hours of game play later, taking breaks for my eyes sake, I had drank heaps of coffee and drawn a line on the wall for every death.

AFter 18hours and 139 deaths I had one beaten game.

Now, before I fall unconscious, I offer you a challenge.

Maybe the "Hardcore Gamers don't play single player" guy, means in terms of demons souls i.e the threat of BP invasion on online mode is pretty harcore I guess?

Anyone can do an 18-hour marathon, the hardcoreness is in keeping playing a game for years, mastering it and improving your skills, competing with others and pushing each-other to new heights.


In fact, if you truly love a game, it is only natural, rather than hardcore, to play the hell out of it.


I finished Final Fantasy XIII with it's 50+ hours of gameplay in just 5 days...and it was an imported Japanese version just so that I'd get the original voices, but I never thought of the act as "hardcore".

If this would be reddit you would get a bazillion upvotes.

I played WoW for 36 hours when WotLK came out. I subsequently quit the game for a year, but it still counts!

Are you saying rookie league to the consistent play time? If that is the case than I have you beat, ever heard of the 7 day war back with Halo 2? Ya, I participated in 2 of them, in the same summer. Needless to say, never again. I played the whole time... 65k kills for the FFA and 25k kills for Juggernaut. I won the FFA and got 5th in the Juggernaut, only because I refused to use guns and stuck with the sword .


OT: I've heard stuff about the Souls games but never really looked into them, I can only assume that its one hell of a time based on what I've heard people talking about. Kudos to you seeing that the game is supposed to have a much longer play time from some of the previous posts.

Only thing I've ever done that well in is beating MGS2 in one sitting, about 4 hours first time play through. Than I found out why it was looked upon as the bastard child of the series lol.... I regret wasting that 4 hours of my life haha.

No i'm talking about real time play. I was playing for 36 hours straight.
