Guppy, you may also have a cookie. It is a smaller cookie, but a cookie nonetheless.

Play whatever the heck you want and watch the romance scenes on youtube. Seriously. They don't impact the gameplay, and you will just end up watching the romance parts anyway. The only difference is you will cut out all the work. Also a Noble human rogue is easy to RP, s/he doesn't give a shit about nobility and honor and just likes to mess stuff up.

Funnily enough I ended up with that gay kinky rogue loving me when I played Origins. I kind of stumbled into it, thinking giving me party members presents was just a nice thing to do. Little did I know the guy would take that as an invitation.

(But I know, me defending Bioware romances. I never thought it would happen either.)
I usually have nothing but the most cutting things to say about their romances, but my girlfriend really loves them, so I acknowledge that they've got value, even if they are liberally stuffed with cheese. Your defense of them was actually fairly hilarious, but applause is boring, so I went the faux mockery route instead.

Meh. It's lost all meaning now.

Because Bioware romances are among the most terrible, shoddily done things in gaming.

But whatever floats your boat, I guess.

Ehh...I don't understand the obsession with romances in these games. Definitely don't plan your entire playthrough around them.
This. What have us rpg players become ? Virtual whores ?
It appears we role players have become role players. Shocking!
I doubt Anthraxus and I actually agree that much, since I'm pretty sure he hates BioWare games (at least recent ones) and I love them. But still...the romances just aren't that good. I roleplay heavily and still can't understand making them a central part of how you plan to play the game. But whatever. I'll not criticize any more, since it was probably a dick move to do so as much as I have already.

It's weird seeing you defend a BioWare game and me criticize it, though...

Play a dwarf. If you really, really have to play a character in a video game that has a "romance" with a character in a video game, get Katawa Shoujo or something.

I'm aware I'm a bit late to this particular party, but shut up.

I've been trying for about two weeks to play this game. I don't seem to be able to. Here's why:
Party Composition makes me uncertain as to what class I should play

I want to pick an Origin that complements my romance but is also fun

I don't wanna play a Dwarf and **** a human because that will make me laugh too hard

I want to Romance Morrigan and Alistair. I want to play through the game three times. I want my class to make sense with my Origin. This is INFURIATING.

Female City Elf Rogue is a really cool character, and I like it a lot. Common sense here says I should bone Alistair. But why would my Elf who has been oppressed by Humans her whole life want to bone one just because he's British and sexy?

Male Noble Human is also a cool character. Playboy Nobleman turned Hero when his family gets betrayed, I can totally get behind that. But I just don't like the feel of a Rogue coming from that background and really, why would Morrigan want to be involved with that guy? He's handsome and heroic and powerful, sure. But Morrigan doesn't seem like she'd respect that.

The Mage origin is also really cool, but I just don't know how that character should be built or played. Elves get the nicest bonus, but I don't want my Rogue and my mage to be identical. I suppose I could play a male Elf, but they just look too pretty for me. So, Bioware Social. Can you help me manage my myriad neuroses and play this ****ing game? 'Cause I really want to.

I HATE Leliana, which makes me lean toward a rogue just so I have the ability to pick locks, but I still have another two playthroughs where I just have to suffer along until Zevran shows up.
To romance Morrigan and have it make sense, I'd suggest playing a Human Male Mage...besides the couple making sense, Mages are ridiculously overpowered once you get a few levels under your belt (spec Blood Mage and Arcane Knight...trust me :p)

For Alistar, I'd suggest Human Female Noble and I always liked playing as a Rogue when doing the Human Noble. You've got an older sibling that's supposed to be a warrior of some renown, so I like to imagine that since the family already has a knight in training, that the younger daughter would pick up more...."practical" talents. :p

I started this game recently and wanted to start a thread about this but my question is a lot more basic/stupid: can I play it hack and slashy like Zelda, Fable etc, or is it just point on an enemy and wait for him to die?

It is. I dislike the Bioware romances too, to the point where I stopped romancing anyone, but I dont understand the degree of hate people give them.
I'm gonna be totally honest. It's part vanity for me. Some people take the obsession too far. And I just hate to be associated with it. I guess it is like being fan of Sonic games.
