So, I remember once reading on a different forum that certain people undertake take a challenge where they refuse to eat food for a week.
Now I've been thinking, how easy or difficult is it to go without food for a week. I mean I've gone without food for one or two days before and I've felt fine.
I'm thinking of trying this challenge and my question is, what will I be subjecting my health to? What am I going to be feeling as my hunger gets worse?
If anyone could list the sort of things my body are going to go through that would be great.

So, until someone talks me out of it then I'm going to start, as of the last time I've eaten (21:30 October 3rd) It's been 16 hours and 50 minutes since then, day one of this challenge. I will update with a new thread every day.

Good luck! this is going to be really uncomfortable for you
I gathered it was going to be rather unpleasant. We'll just have to see how I progress.

I know someone who has done this. You will lose a lot of weight, so if you are really skinny to begin with, it isn't a good idea. Also, your body is going to metabolizes what fat you do have, which is going to put your body into an acidic state (metabolic acidosis). That is extremely dangerous and if you allow it to remain for too long, it will lead to compensated shock, decompensated shock, then irreversible shock. The human body must keep a pH balance of 7.35-7.45. A change of 0.4 in either direction past that is fatal.
I'm not saying you can't do it, just be careful and know what you are getting yourself into. If you are doing this to lose weight, you might cause more harm then good. Make sure you drink lots of water and something healthy with calories, otherwise you will have zero energy and your glucose might drop if you do not get any sugar into your system (I'm not saying drink Mountain Dew all weak, either, you need to have a supply of health drinks to do this).
I would suggest going to a doctor before attempting this to make sure you are healthy enough in the first place. Good luck if you do attempt this though. Hope this helped.

May I ask why? If that is your picture, you look fine dear. If it is simple curiosity, just be careful.

Basically you'll go into "starvation mode", meaning that your body will drop its metabolism to nothing and will cannibalize your energy stores for food. Like dpf said, I'd go to the doctor if you wanted to do this.

The bigger question is WHY?

I'm actually doing a "cleanse" this week in which I will be consuming nothing but juice to gain nutrients.

Should be fun ^-^

Honestly this is one of the stupider things I've read,
If you have any muscle at all that week will destroy them as your body will eat the muscle before it eats the fat.

I'm mainly doing this to test the limits of my body, I like endurance events, long distance running just to see what my body can handle. I'm not trying to lose weight from this as I feel I'm perfectly healthy anyway, I also have stocked up on protein shakes, juices, milk and plenty of water. I also plan on drinking coffee alot, having a minor caffeine addiction anyway I feel this can give my body a little jolt.
If I feel like I can't do this then I will start eating again.

Like I said, I'm doing something just like this this week. For the fun of it really, but it's supposed to be good for you to get toxins out of your system

Good luck with it!

While a few/several day starvation might sometimes be healthy for the body as it cleans the organism, i doubt coffee is what you want to drink. It may seem fine during the first days but after that it will do more harm than good.
Also stocking yourself on protein shakes is cheating really. Want to really test your body go on water alone, maybe with a bit of sugar. Oh well, enjoying lying in bed most of time to conserve energy.

Uhm, what's the point?

Maybe it's me, but starving yourself for no good reason is a really stupid idea.

Are you going to be having water as well? I know you'll get some water from the juice, but you'll really need to be keeping water levels high for a cleanse.
Of course! I'll be drinking everything I normally would (which is really just water and tea) but yes, water is obviously going to be a priority.

So no coffee... Would barley water be acceptable?

Hahaha, erm, have fun?

Yeah, a whole week is kinda crazy. I actually attempted a similar thing a while back (for similar reasons: out of curiosity and trying to test my physical limits) but it was only for 3 days. I wanted to see how I felt afterwards, and whether or not I would try going further. I'm not sure if you've done anything like this before, and your body will definately react differently than to how mine did, but here's what I got out of the experiance:

-Coffee did NOT agree with me. After drinking coffee on an empty stomach, it felt like it was doing fucking somersaults in my abdominal cavity for the next few hours. Not a painful experiance, but sure as hell not pleasant.
-Extreme lethargy. I'd be tired, but feeling so uncomfortable from a ragingly empty stomach that I couldn't really fall asleep. My xbox gave me something to do without me needing to get up and move.
-Weak limbs. My arms and legs felt really weak, though this may have been influenced by the lack of activity from sitting/laying on the couch.

Ultimately, I caved out of hunger at the begining of the 3rd day. Maybe If I were drinking properly, had properly prepared myself beforehand (by having a decent meal or something like that), or was doing anything at all properly, it would've been better. Ultimately though I'd gone in very unprepared with an attitude of "hey, no eating, easy lets go".

tl;dr Don't drink coffee on an empty stomach. Lol.

As a doctor's son i'd suggest you cut the crap ;) and not do this, starvation could lead to a lot of thing, you will also suffer the worst pain and your muscles are just going to vanish, i wouldn't call it a challenge i'd call it suicide.
