I understand it fine. I find it underwhelming.
So you find it underwhelming and thus are intentionally misrepresenting it?
Like, there are definitely unique feels to characters. I've had ones that had huge penalties to stamina and hp and combat, but added extra base skills. I've also had survivors who had such a perfect storm of advanced skills and unique traits as to become combat monsters. It sounds like you played once, got 4 characters in a random system, and declared the system to be rubbish, but having barely touched it.
It has a fine balance of characters being playable at a base level across the board, combined with interesting make ups which encouraging finding new survivors to see what combinations you can get.
No. I stated exactly what I thought. Disagreeing with me isn't intentionally misrepresenting it. Nothing I said was wrong. And I, too, have what on paper should be combat monsters as you put it.
And functionally, I do not feel a difference in combat. Like I stated.
The game jankiness is real. Almost all reviewers report on it. The controls are awkward to me. The Blood plague is easily mitigated by... just playing the game normally. The lack of motivation other than a ticking supply counter going down each day. These things are true in essence because this is how *I* feel about the game.
And again, all the character traits, skills and matches are in the game... and I stick by with my opinion that it really does little to enhance gameplay. You can add a few books to a few survivors and that takes away some of the "unique edge" of randomization.
Just like it's your opinion that there is definitely an unique feel to the characters. The only difference is, while I disagree with you, I'm not spending my time trying to poke holes in how you feel about the game because it's opinion.
Think of it this way. There's no amount of my personal distaste that can convince you to see the game differently. Just like the parkour option you suggested to me won't make me feel that adding the kick and jump action to the same button is an ok choice. In fact, the parkour continues to make me feel these characters are less special because
not everyone before the Zombie Apoc would be that agile. Nor would they be after because some people just can't do that. But that's neither here nor there. My main point is that everything I can bring up won't change your opinion because you get value from it. I don't get the same value. I see more negatives than pluses, and I'm still going to load it up in twenty minutes so I can play with my friend.
