Eh, there were some people growing up I know only got their PS2 because it gave their parents a DVD player without having to fork over money for both. In the same vein, I knew some people in college that mainly got their PS3 because it was a blu-ray player in addition to giving them something to screw around with poeple over instead of just sitting around. And hell, you can use it as your primary entertaiment system nowadays too, since it gives you internet access so long as you pay, so you can Netflix, play games, music, whatever. It's a gimped PC, sure, but hey, a toaster's just a gimped stovetop too.undeadsuitor said:what the fuck would you use a gaming console for other than gaming?Aerosteam said:Just because someone owns a gaming console doesn't mean they use it for gaming.
I mean, I know some consoles run hot enough to cook an egg on but just because girls own consoles doesnt mean theyre cooking on them exactly.
This is just more pointless goal post shifting.
I mean, I don't mean to undercut the statistics, but there's alot of people out there that don't use it primarily as a gaming device.
Also, considering PC gaming's become more of a thing as consoles have proven to be...less than adequate for a large amount of people, I'm really not surprised. And the study talks about PC ownership, but doesn't talk about PC built for gaming ownership. As it is considering them to be the same. Everyone's owned a PC for the better part of two decades nowadays I think. So really not surprising.
