So the other day I turn on my computer like i always do. Xfire, MSN, and Steam i have set to automatically connect and a message pops up saying steam need my password. No problem; it happens occasionally. I can't login and try to reset my password. No email so i contact support and they say "Your steam account has been disabled due to illegal activity on your account. Your account will not be reactivated."
The only thing i can attribute to this "illegal activity" is that i have been playing counter-strike for a long time. I am no pro but consider myself exceptional player. But i know other great players who have never had their entire account banned just because they were good. Otherwise my account could have been hijacked. I don't see why i would not be reactivated if this was the case however.
The big issue here is that i have always been a huge fan of steam. I even do everything in my power to turn my friends on to steam. I wipe my computer frequently and have issues keeping track of game discs and CD keys. I have over 50 games on my account and routinely defend steam from anybody. This is still more about the principle than the lost games.
I have a friend who had a similar thing happen to him when he was quite young and innocent. The result turned him into a pirate and he actually insists on pirating every game released ENTIRELY due to a false accusation of illegal activity.
I am curious as to if anybody has had a similar experience with steam and how they responded. Did you just move on? Turn pirate? Make a new account? Perhaps you just want to flame steam...
