Does anyone here know how to fix the problem with Half Life 2 (and other Valve related games) on Steam that shuts the game down. A message pops up saying 'hl2.exe has stopped working. From research this is a common problem but I haven't found a solution yet. Any help will be appreciated.

The only thing I can think to try would be to right click the game in your library and go to properties then local files and then verify cache files which will make sure the game was installed fully and properly and fix it if it wasn't.
