or you could, buy the game on steam, and then put two dollars in an envelope and send it to developers. Actually you don't need to buy the game at all! Just give away your money!aba1 said:You can get the physical copy and support alot more companys for a extra 2 dollers by buying from a store.
I am talking about the companys that make the cases and the disks not to mention the manuals and the stores who sell them and the companys who ship the games. By buying on steam the devs get more cause they don't have to bother with all those companys. With the economy being in the shitter jobs are decreasing its better to support as many buisnesses as possible.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:Yeah, get the physical copy, it makes the dev a lot more money....aba1 said:herp derp
Wait, what? How the fuck? Who told you that? Because its fucking wroooonnngggg. People are always talking about how Steam rips off devs and pubs, and yet they are clueless. Digital sale on Steam = makes the publisher and dev twice the money they get from a physical copy sold in a store, even when the version on Steam costs 2 dollars less.

For this and other reasons I fully agree. Digital distribution companies like Steam and Origin are walking all over ownership rights all in the name of getting the publisher all the profits all the while screwing over many subsidiary industries that the gaming industry would not exist today without.aba1 said:I wasnt talking about the dev's I am talking about the companys that make the cases and the disks not to mention the manuals and the stores who sell them and the companys who ship the games. Last time it was on sale in the UK it cost 50% more, I doubt it's going to go much further.jbchillin said:borderlands is a great game. its on sale at least once a month for this price so its not to big of a deal.
I see your point but my concern isn't solely for my own country but for the general benifit of all societys sure alot is done by machines but thats still alot of different companys that hire hundreds even thousands of people for all kinds of things ranging from mainence to finacing and with populations growing in every country its important to make sure there is enough work to support everyone even if you underestimate the amount of jobs that that infact entales.SmashLovesTitanQuest said:Thats possibly the most backward reasoning I have ever heard from someone trying to convince me to buy a physical copy even the digital is a lot cheaper.aba1 said:I am talking about the companys that make the cases and the disks not to mention the manuals and the stores who sell them and the companys who ship the games. Yes, the economy is in the shitter, but on the other hand, how do you think these boxing factories look? Do you think that for every CD, there is one worker? Do you think that each manual is placed in its case manually? No. That is not the case. If you want to support your countries economy, buying cars manufactured in your home country, making sure your everyday groceries are grown and produced near you and not somewhere in Spain, etc, is much more effective than buying a physical copy of a game. Never mind that media such as games, movies and music are moving further and further towards being distributed digitally exclusively, a trend that is certainly not going to be stopped anymore.
Now that I come to think of it, are you even sure games are packaged in the your country? I sincerely doubt that Borderlands CDs are pressed, packaged and sold to shops, all inside Canada.
In closing, your argument is a bit all over the place and could do with some simple facts to replace the gaps you seem to have filled with thoughtless assumptions. Or to put it more clearly, maybe you should think about what you are going to say before you say it.
