Ok so just saw that C&C games are on sale. I need your opinion dear escapists. First off, 4. I heard all the heat it took, and I myself wasn't really liking it (just tried it at a friends). So is its mutliplayer active and is it any fun at all?
second question is, is anyone still playing the 3 (tiberium wars), cause if there are still a lot of active players I'd be interested in getting Kanes Wrath. I much prefer this one above 4 :D
Third but not least, has EA dropped the crazy DRM limits on any of these games? I mean its on steam, am I gonna still have that "you may install this 3 times" ##### of idiocy or did they give up on it?
Thank you very much for your opinions in advance!

I've heard that 3 is the best, as long as you don't get the expansions, they were supposed to be rubbish.

Yeah the 3 is really good, wanted to know if the expansion is worth buying it :p

As far as I know there is no installation limit (Can't see it on the back of my boxes) to C&C3 but I do know Red Alert 3 had an activation system that meant it was authorized for use on one computer at a time, it was possible to deauthorize though and reformatting reset it aswell.

Both 3 and Red alert 3 have only steam as DRM, not even that if you buy retail but yeh, no installation limits. I don't think the online would be all that active, I played Red Alert 3 when it first came out and even then the online wasn't that active, all that would be left now are the pros.

With 4 I would also like to know if it's worth it, I played the beta and that wasn't bad, but seems like it would make a terrible single player campaign as their was no punishment for losing units.

I'm not sure about the DRM, but I personally think Tiberium Wars, Kane's Wrath, and Red Alert 3 were good.

However, most people will tell you to avoid 4. I played the beta and asked myself many times, "How the hell is this C&C?"

Let me tell you how the first "not tutorial" mission of the GDI campaign felt to me: "Spam Fest". I was literally just pouring out units trying to outspam my enemy before the timer went zero. After that I just didn't really want to play more of it :p

Tiberium Wars. Gah. I wish I could get it, but credit card issues are stopping me. Sadness.

But yeah, not a clue about the expansions. Consensus seems to say they're bad... but on the other hand, it's also dirt cheap. If you dislike it, it's a small loss, right?

I just got C&C 3, i decided against kane's wrath, as i'm led to believe that that are almost no extra units, which has very limited effect on gameplay, the story missions don't seem to add anything new or improved (gameplay or story), the new mode of world conquest doesn't appeal to me and i've overspent on the bloody steam sale.

Meh? C&C3 (or rather, C&C 6 if you employ real counting) isn't that great of a game, at least compared to the predecessors. It's still infinitely better than Red Alert 3 though, so if you must spend your money, get that instead. Also, Kane's Wrath is pretty decent as far as addons go. The campaign is shit, story wise (warning, this post is written by a C&C fanboy) I mean, but the gameplay is more varied than in the vanilla version.

I think it still has the "You always need to connect because we think you're a pirate" DRM.

Although I've heard somebody say they pirated it rather easily. In that case, way to go with the restrictive DRM EA. Maybe next time, you can redirect a tactical nuclear strike to our house if we misspell the serial key.

Yeah a friend of mine had it pirated the day it got released. Congrats EA :p

C&C RA2 is still the best in my opinion.

C&C4 isn't a command and conquer game and C&C RA3 took the humoress side of the series over the edge. I mean EVERY wonman in that game looks like a prostitute.

C&C3 was by far the best C&C game EA made.

Oh damn it, I was going to buy it too. But seeing as I have bought all of the games more than once I won't allow such a blatant insult to my honesty. Also I've managed to guillotine my ethernet cable in half with a window.
Congrats on beheading your ethernet cord. The clip part of the ends keep breaking off of mine. I have about four cables that won't click into place because the ends are broken.

Out of the newer ones 3 is the best, however I prefer the original C&Cs (old time C&C fan). C&C4 is fun as an RTS, but its no C&C and its campaign is short. C&C3 has mods and is the classical style and a solid RTS.

Oh no, no I didn't behead it...I took ten feet off one end of it. Beheading I could fix, I can't splice the cable together because water will get in.
Ten feet?! How long is the cord?
