Ok so just saw that C&C games are on sale. I need your opinion dear escapists. First off, 4. I heard all the heat it took, and I myself wasn't really liking it (just tried it at a friends). So is its mutliplayer active and is it any fun at all?
second question is, is anyone still playing the 3 (tiberium wars), cause if there are still a lot of active players I'd be interested in getting Kanes Wrath. I much prefer this one above 4 :D
Third but not least, has EA dropped the crazy DRM limits on any of these games? I mean its on steam, am I gonna still have that "you may install this 3 times" ##### of idiocy or did they give up on it?
Thank you very much for your opinions in advance!
Out of the newer ones 3 is the best, however I prefer the original C&Cs (old time C&C fan). C&C4 is fun as an RTS, but its no C&C and its campaign is short. C&C3 has mods and is the classical style and a solid RTS.
Yeah I am an old C&C fan too, still have em all around here :D

Still, I am mostly interested if the multilayer community for "3" and kanes wrath are still active. I fear getting Company of heroes is a better idea as it still has a player base it seems.

The consensus says 4 sucks #### obviously :p

And this steam sale seems to have taken a biiiiig grope into our pockets this year :D

Ten feet?! How long is the cord?
Fifteen metres.

Umm, my room is just above my living room so I stick the cord out of my skylight, down through the living room window and into the router. I've got it tied around my desk leg to stop a freak accident tugging my PC off my desk.

Course the UK has had a bit of a cold winter this year, I seem to remember you being Canadian so it's probably nothing you'd be surprised at but it threw us off a bit. I got in from uni one day, slammed the living room window shut to keep the heat in and neatly chopped the three metres of cable off.
LOL that made my evening. I killed one of my cables with a door slammed shut one time :p

As far as I'm concerned, out winter hasn't been cold enough.

We just barely got our first snowfall a few days ago, and it sucks.

Well you out-tough me then, I've had knee-deep snow which turned to ice. I slipped over on the first day and have had a bruise on my backside larger than my hand.

Which, being as I'm in a rock society, people have either been slapping or trying to get photos of.

Anyway, no derailing the thread! If anyone gets a solid answer on whether Steam's C&C4 still has that bloody DRM drop me a PM.
I'll look into it for you and see if I can get an answer out of the internet.

It does...near the bottom of the store page of C&C4 it says PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION* required. Where as on C&C3 it just says internet connection required. And since others have said C&C3 had normal steam drm then any title that says persistent internet connection is the always online crap i guess.

* copied right off store page where it is in all caps..I am not yelling at you lol.

Company of Heroes is a fun game. And if you own all 3 of them you can just launch the latest one and run the older campaigns off of it.

Take it from me, I played since the first one in the series and C&C4 can literally be cleared in 6 hours on Easy in singleplayer if you speed through the campaign. It's nothing but a miserable departure from everything that made C&C good and is a disgusting glorification of the forced-online-multiplayer motherfuckery.

3 is the best you can get in the series. Expansion isn't worth it unless you have a crippling addiction to Skirmish games (and all the extras are certainly sweet) since the campaign is NOD only.

I was going to pass on the expansion for 4.99, but I like the story and I mean its kinda screwed how much I spent on steam and then I look at my credit card bill and go ppppfffttthhh 40$ I bought like 2 5 game indie packs, amnesia dd, pb winterbottom, crysis bundle, c&c3+wrath, The witcher, and 11 indie games from the humble indy bundle.

I could buy like 1 used console game for that price.

Well 4 isnt a great CnC, however I got it and it can be fun for a bash, but don't expect Command and Conquer.
C&C3 is your best bet if you want classical C&C, Kanes Wrath is a good expansion IMO. I'm always up for a game of any C&C (got em all :p) if you need someone to game with :)
