Well just thought I'd let people know, if you haven't checked, STALKER is one of today's specials. I already own Call of Pripyat, and it was easily one of my favorite games that I played last year. It's available for only $3.74. I also just bought Shadow of Chernobyl which I've never played. Can't wait!! I have the Complete Pack downloading right now too so... yeah I'm just excited, but also want to share that you can get STALKER for dirt cheap right now!

To add some discussion value, what games have you bought from the Steam Sale so far? The only other one I bought is Plants vs Zombies, which apparently my girlfriend now loves lol.

STALKER games for less than 5.00 each? Makes me wish I had waited on buying them; I've got the first and second ones already.

As for others, I was hoping to get Recettear, but I hit a snag with processing and missed the $5.00 special. Once I get my next paycheck though, I will be buying the X-COM series.

If you've never played SHOC before, patch it to 1.006 before even launching it, it greatly improves the experience.
Or is it already patched when you download it?
I've never used steam, and payed a total of £80 for the stalker games since i bought them on or around release dates.

I literally bought Call of Pripyat yesterday. D:

What pisses me off more is that I thought about waiting to see if it would pop up on sale. Damn my impatience.

great games, i've completed them all now after finally finishing clear sky at the weekend.

The first is a bit of a hash and is full of bugs, but its the most atmospheric and scary of the three, worth playing on that account but dont judge the whole series on original as they do become more polished.

Clear sky is good - it feels better put together than the first but there are some annoying design choices in the game, which are mostly superficial like stupid loud radios and tannoy systems. It starts out well but then it goes a bit wrong in the middle when you're doing the faction quests, that part could of stood to be completely overhauled IMO, it then finishes strong when you pick up the clear sky missions again but the ending is abrupt and weak. Also there are some mysterious plot threads that never seem to get resolved, always a sign of a hatchet job.

I would say that CoP is the best in terms of being a polished game, it plays over three main areas which are all great, my main complaint is that the last area just feels a bit too rushed, it could of done with more quests, perhaps another lab or two, and once again the ending was a little weak.

On the whole they are great fun, very atmospheric and a worthy addition to the (fairly small) genre (sandbox/RPG/FPS).
