I'm expecting it to start tomorrow. All of their sales are based around a holiday, and then re-named so nobody who doesn't celebrate said holiday gets offended. The Summer sale has been built around the 4th of July in the past, and that's tomorrow.
If it started tomorrow I don't think they would have bothered making regular midweek sales this week.
Why not? There's always /something/ on sale on Steam. This is as true the day before a major sale as it is the day of. I mean, I could easily be wrong, but I don't think that would be a big sign of it.

I'm pretty sure it'll start tomorrow. This theory [http://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/vzm65/tinfoilhat_crackpot_theory_on_the_impending_sale/] is kinda shaky, but now with the Earthworm Jim Daily containing an HD picture (unlike the other pics) of a SALE i'm kinda inclined to believe it.

I'm honestly not that excited about the steam summer sale anymore, Amazon has done an amazing job with their sale, I mean Spec Ops and Max Payne 3 for 50% off, and Binary Domain for 75% off. I seriously doubt steam is going to beat these prices.

I don't really know what I hope to get; the last few steam sales I bought TONS of videogames, many of which very awesome. But I don't really know whats left that I'm interested in, maybe Morrowind or Grimrock, maybe even Dear Esther. But regardless, I'll be sure to keep a very close eye on it each day

I've currently got around 250 unique games on Steam, 277 if you count shortcuts and games like Sam and Max. So I'm not sure what I can buy, I'll find something though. Either way, our wallets are all going to get violated horribly.
Yeah this seems accurate.

OT: Well, considering I just bought Rock of Ages (which is totally rad btw) for the price of a take away coffee, I'd say I'm pretty pleased with myself already, and sales haven't even started yet!
I've been waiting for a sale since late last year, when I promised to buy my girlfriend L4D2, which seems to be perfect timing, considering Australia's R18 rating has finally, FINALLY, been approved!

Yeah, just a damn shame that it's only valid if you are a US resident. Europe gets completely cut out, so I am hoping that Spec Ops: The Line also becomes a part of the Steam summer sale.

I saved some pennies to spend on it and I was hoping I wouldn't be in hospital for it so I'm hoping it will be tonight.
You can't expect to make a statement about the hospital like that and not have someone ask you what's up. I hope it's nothing bad, and if it is, I hope it's not very serious.

OT: Being the steam junkie that I am, I'm looking forward to the sale as usual. I don't have any games in mind in particular, but something cool always shows up.

It can be fixed with an op so it's okay :) I saved up so I was dreading being stuck in there. Wasn't fishing for attention lol it's just at the forefront of my mind at the moment.

Oh, I didn't mean it like that. Sorry if I came off like I was calling you out for attention or something, that was not my intention. I was just asking because it had me concerned. Yeah, I know, me being concerned about another person? It surprised me too!

I'm hoping Anno 2070 goes on a big enough sale that it dips at or below 20 euros. I would've payed more, but I have an unstable computer that needs to have windows reinstalled every so often. Anno's 3-install limit makes me consider it as a rental game, no matter how much they claim that you can just mail their customer support and they'll unlock it. I have one other Anno game on DVD (1701). I need to download cracks if I want to play it, because the copy protection system doesn't work on new windows versions. So I'm not betting my money on them being customer-friendly, especially in a year or two when the next game comes out. If they only give me the game for a limited amount of time, I'm not paying full price for it.

The new Civ 5 expansion would be nice, but that's such a recent release I don't know if it'll be priced down. Sins of a Solar empire, dito.

A guy told me they have put it off for a week because of pyrovision.
You mean pyromania?

If so, I wonder why, since the TF2 update team doesn't handle anything with steam.

Yeah sorry I guess I was thinking of the goggles :3

He said it causes a conflict of interests. I don't know if it's gospel or not but it made sense to me as people would be busy farming tf2 and maybe not spending as much on new games.

I wasn't sure if you were making a joke, like "All valve sees is butterflys and rainbows, they see no need for a sale!"

But... it only added a handful of new items that are very easy to craft, and people are *always* farming TF2. I just doubt TF2 takes a big enough chunk out of steam's millions of users to make having a sale become less profitable. If anything I think pyromania would increase sales because lots of people that may not have signed into steam for awhile are doing so now to try out the new TF2 stuff.

Could be. I just bet that it's something else. Maybe not enough publishers have given the go ahead for price cuts or there's a dispute or something.

Really? I always thought that they would cross-reference it with the adress that my credit-card is linked to. Hrm...

So, the Steam has finally launched and it looks like that unearthed list of games is only for the indie bundle and not the entire sale(thankfully).

So, did people end up buying something today? I'm currently at work, so I can't really buy anything, but I'm strongly considering buying Legend of Grimrock, when I come home, since I've heard nothing but good things. Today's indie bundle doesn't really look at interesting to me, since I have those games in the bundle, that I want to play.

Also, the "vote for next game to go on sale" thing is pretty cool, huh? Valve really seems to up the user input on Steam, with this, Workshop and Greenlight projects.

Grimrock is probably the best of today's deals. That and CK2, although $9.99 is still quite steep by sale standards. Portal 2 obviously but I assume everyone has that already.

There's my daily endorsements. Crusader Kings 2, and Legend of Grimrock. Strategy fans and old school RPG fans, hop to it!
