I just want to complete sets of Bioshock Infinite, get a background for it, and possibly complete a set of those Steam cards. I don't really know if I want any games yet. No money, god dammit.

Related to earlier post, is there any way of 'upgrading' one's Steam copy of Skyrim to the legendary edition? By that I mean, as I already own Skyrim and Hearthfire, is there anyway of purchasing the Legendary bundle but minus the cost of those two elements? Something like the 'complete album' option in iTunes?

I'm guessing not, and that if I want both Dawnguard and Dragonborn I'm going to have to pay the £14 for both of them. Seems like bullshit given that that's only £4 off the price for those two with the base game you need to play it, but ho hum. Such is capitalism...

Took me an HOUR AND A HALF to get The Showdown Effect. *Shakes head*

EDIT: I mean, just to pay for the damn thing. I've yet to download it. It took me over 90 minutes just to successfully go from Add to Basket to Click here to pay.

So I'm new to Steam Sales, what are daily deals and flash sales, and should I wait till the end before buying anything?

I mean I see Skyrim on sale with a flash sale, the discount is alright but not really great. Should I get it or just wait?
Daily deals and flash sales are the lowest that game will be discounted throughout the sale, there is a rule if you don't see the game you want on the daily or flash sale list, then wait til it is.
Ok then the next question is should I wait till the winter sale or just get it?
Depends on if you want it now or in the winter.
Usually, due to time, the game will be cheaper by the holiday sale just due to regular price depreciation.

Basically, if the asking sale price sounds good to you, I say buy it. If it still seems too high, don't.

That's up to you dude, it's possible, and more than likely, that any game on sale now could have a larger discount in the winter. say for example, bioshock infinite, it only came out a couple months ago, so it's logical that they'd only discount it a little by 50%, but by the end of the year they may bump it down to 66% or 75% during the winter sale.

By all means play the waiting game if you want to save even more money, But don't be surprised if the prices don't change too much 4 months from now.

It's not letting me buy Skyrim. Yay for high internet traffic.

depends on how bad you want to play it and how big your backlog is right now to be honest, and I can see it going down even further than that at one point (and are you looking to buy just the regular or legendary edition?)

legendary is PROBABLY worth it if you enjoy elder scrolls games, but I would say you can wait for more deals because I guarantee it'll pop up at a 50% off at some point for the whole set.

Lucky you, i don't seem to be able to get past "There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."

It's taken me an hour or so just get logged in on the support site, i'm yet to succeed submitting a ticket for it,

Looks like it'll be window shopping for me because I lost my job. I was looking forward to this sale too and now it's just one big tease.

Hmm...Dark Souls for 15 bucks seems like a doable price for me after the whole crappy port fiasco. Gotta dig out my controller and find those mods that make the whole thing manageable. Anyone got a link to the DS mods please and thank you?

Aside from that I've been meaning to pick up the first two Splinter Cell games and Thief collection for some time, and lo and behold they're even more dirt cheap.

Haven't found anything else of interest quite yet. Good to have a credit card and payday being tomorrow :)

Every game on my wish list is currently on sale. Well fuck. Looks like I'll finally be picking up Dishonored, Farcry 3, Ghost Recon Future Soldier, Spec Ops The Line, and Tomb Raider.

God damn it, I don't have time for all these games!

I've taken a look at Dishonored and even voted for it in the community, but since it's up against two significantly better games (Far Cry 3 and Borderlands 2) the further price drop will not happen.

I've also looked at Defiance, but since it's somewhat tied to a very mediocre show and many of those that have played it got bored of it very quickly, I may give that a pass.

I don't even know what I want yet.

I thought the opening lot of sales was a bit disappointing, but we've got 10 days, and I'm super excited. :)

Grabbed up the 4 pack of Guns of Icarus and some indie games that I wasn't quite willing to spend more than 5 dollars on a piece at normal price.

Doubt Tomb raider is gonna drop low enough for me to snatch it and I'm seriously considering defiance while it's chopped down.

If you want the game and it's on a flash, daily or community choice deal, buy it. If it isn't, wait for the last day of the sale. Most games have a discount that last the entire sale, but they can be discounted further in the special deals. It requires patience and I already fucked up buying La Mulana but waiting for a special offer is what you should be doing.

It'll probably drop to something like 10 bucks or better at some point in the sale, if not, it'll still be $15 on the 22nd.

I'm completely new to these sales. I'm wanting Dragon Age Origins at 70% off, but if I miss the sale will it go on sale again later in the event, and perhaps at an even better discount? Or should I immediately purchase it now?

Sorry, just a console peasant being confused.

EDIT: Actually, how can I change the Store settings so that it displays the games in different currencies? I just realized that $15 US will be far more in NZ, and I'd rather it displayed the actual price for me. I can't seem to find an option for it.

if anyone is looking for a nice little addition to their shopping cart, I'd like to suggest the Ben There Dan That and Time Gentlemen Please Double Pack. It is 49 cents for two very good point and click style adventure games.
