And what if he was being serious? Feminists are unreasonable creatures. So unreasonable they surpassed PETA a long time ago. They deserve all the hate they get.
Because 'Feminist Whore' is kind of an oxymoron. It shows more that whoever programmed it was just throwing together misogynist adjectives without stopping to think. It reminds me of the time a certain kid at my school described our housemaster as a 'Jewish Nazi'... I think that's one of the only times the phrase 'epic fail' really is applicable.

Let me get this straight... she has a skill... that does more damage... when she attacks men... and people are complaining about what it's named in the code more than the blatant misandry of that skill?

Seriously, if there was a male character that had a skill to do extra damage against female enemies (it could still be publicly named Gender Wars and privately named, I don't know, MisogynistAsshole or something) and people would, again, flip out on behalf of women.
I'm thinking of the two perks in Fallout:NV. I was thinking this exact thing when i saw them.

'Black Widow' and 'Lady Killer'. They even have same sex versions so equality all around i guess, but really?

Edit: The code name catapults this to another level though. I don't want to imply that I agree with you about the naming and why people are more concerned about that.

I bet if it said something against men on a male character, like "pig", nobody would say a thing about it being bad.
I'm sure if it said ChauvanistPigStomp it would definitely get some people in arms. Not as many, but some people.

I'm a feminist, and I would.

Yeah, fuck that shit. Women's rights? The only right they have is staying in the kitchen. Hatespeech against women? Please, its not my fault they dress like whores and seem to believe they're equal to a man. Ain't that right, buddy?

And yes, video games are so much important than hateful language against another human being.
Um, alright. Your argument is so smary and sarcastic that it offers absolutely nothing of value, and it is a pretty severe personal attack on top of that. But I'll see what I can do. First, hate speech is bullshit. Second, it's not like a joke in a video game is going to somehow undo 50 years of women's rights. Third, who cares about hateful speech against another human being? In this day and age of instantaneous communication, why does it fucking matter? Don't you see this enough everyday to just not care? They're just words.

It's a silly fucking joke. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill.

The skill is not inconsistent with this type of game. If it fits the character that she has some problem with men, then it makes sense she'd damage men more out of anger. The insinuation that all feminists wish to damage men more is the misogyny.

Unfortunately, the "media" considers hatred and crime against men by women to be perfectly fine, if not comedy gold. Honestly? If that joke was in the game, people would probably think it was hilarious.

Her name is only one letter away from the Hungarian slang for "vagina". Heh.

Anyways, the fact that the game was released in a worse state then your avarage STALKER game (and that it seems completely shit, quite unlike STALKER) bothers me more.

Part of me thinks your very correct.

Personally I think it's a funny little joke and completely harmless, I laughed when I heard it. Sometimes people really don't know when to be and not to be serious.

Oh don't get me wrong, I see the misogyny clear as day here. I realized that post didn't make that clear I tried to edit for clarity. Sorry if I came off not understanding. See my post before my reply to this guy to see my personal feelings about this. :)

Edit: You're right about the context, if that was her character and they had called the skill 'chip on your shoulder' or something, that would be completely different.

I've heard this, and I don't think it's entirely true. What IS true is that stories about women being downtrodden or disadvantaged tend to sell better than stories about men. This does create a skewed reality, but there's no underlying conspiracy of the media to make it so.

However the statistics to bear out that sexism AND sexual assault runs both ways and this needs to be discussed. Men actually feel more shame about it and report it less. Even considering that, FBI statistics for assault are pretty interesting if you take the time to look it up.

Ugh. Gamer comments to anything feminist/women-issue related turn my stomach.

How is hating feminists equal to hating females? How? Yeah, maybe naming that skill as such wasn't the best idea but how is that hating females?

I've heard a lot of stories about incredibly mysoginistic attitudes in various development studios.

I certainly wouldn't say its anything larger than one or two people, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was revealed those one or two people had that sort of attitude.

I approve of that joke. Feminists are fucking stupid anyway.
No, people who think feminists are exclusively jilted, middle-aged women spouting sexist shit are stupid.

I highly doubt that you don't think men and women should be equal.

Indeed, who cares about hate speech? Why yes, we should call Jewish people the K word, and black people the N word in the street. I mean, we all heard it enough in rap music and the internet, so we should be totally desensitized to that sort of thing.

Wait! Video games are violent, and we see this stuff enough not to care right? So, why don't we start murdering eachother? Lets make murder legal! Since its been around for such a long time, why should we care?

It might be a bit of an exaggeration, but I certainly feel its true. Although I don't think it's some insane feminist conspiracy or something, I do feel that our society as whole tends to have very unequal views regarding the gender roles and violence. Look at the various cases of "amateur penectomies" committed by disgruntled women that have gotten significant press coverage over the past few years. Sure, it's not a perfect point, but these cases of really horrific domestic abuse were the butts of jokes all across the media. It's really goes to show how much of a double standard there is in our society with gender and violence. I really didn't mean to imply that it was a conspiracy, but more or less that it was just a quirk of our societal norms, and that the media is, to some degree, a decent mirror of thesis societal norms.

I do agree on the other half of your post though. The state of affairs regarding sexual assault, domestic abuse, and sexism by women towards men is a problem, and deserves just as much time and effort to eliminate as the same situations as the same problems with men toward women.

It's not unusual to have gender related damage bonuses in games.

For instance, in Fallout 3, there's a perk, if you're male, that deals damage bonus against females, and if you're female, does damage bonus against males.

Honestly, because all women are feminists. You are confusing feminism with 'crazy-man-hating-extremist'. A real feminist just want to be treated equally at home and work. A real feminist would be angry if it said something horrible about men too.

Someone said this in another thread recently and i wish i could find it to properly credit them, but they said:

"This is to feminism what the Westboro Baptist Church is to Christianity."

Truer words were never spoken.

You think that's bad, the code for the 747-500 landing gear contained the commented line your gay and you know you are. So next you fly remember the the code the keeping you in the air was written by some dim frat-boy.
