Please tell me that you're trolling. Please. This is one of the most asinine complaints I've ever heard for a digital distribution system. You're acting like they deliberately read your mind and had the sale a day later than you wanted it just to 'rip you off'. You're not going to get your refund, because your refund is neither necessary nor deserved.

If you had paid attention to the sales, you'd realise that they have a daily set of deals and a larger set of deals running the whole sale, and you would also have realised that if you bought it in the larger set of deals you wouldn't save as much money as in the smaller set, so this sort of thing is inevitable. Financially, you'd have a really hard time convincing a developer or publisher to have such a huge discount for the entire sale period.

Really? No really????????

Just wow. I know some people have real problems with Steam and that it does get a lot of praise simply for being decent and not origin but.....wow.............

Just be glad they offered you a deal. I saw one the other day for £150. It had over 101 items(Games + DLC) and was usaully over £500. I didn't buy it but I was impressed that they did those kind of deals, your actully going to complain because they gave you a good deal but then made it better after you had bought it?

Sigh.....

This happened to me the other day. Bought Magic 2012 for about eight dollars instead of the usual fifteen, then it was on sale again two days later for five. Sure, it made me a little sad, but I still got a great deal in the first place. Just be happy you got any deal at all.

So what am I supposed to say about that 1$=1? thing?

You're in no position to complain. You got a game for cheaper than full price, seriously. You already run in the black and nobody cheated you out of your cash, since you already paid less.

Steam/Valve doesn't even matter, hell, I'd get on your case for it if it was EA. And I hate EA.

You see what you do when these sales happen is you make a budget. Then with that budget you take a portion of it (I like to make sure its not more then half) and you spend it through out the sale on whatever you want/need right there and then. THEN on the final day of the sale you take the other half of that budget an you go wild on everything you don't have/didn't buy. that way when I do buy something and it goes on sale later I dont feel as bad cause it means less I spend on the last day

If you were willing to pay it when you didn't know it would be cheaper then I don't think its that big of an issue now.
You missed a sale, not valves fault its how sales work.

Guess what? You aren't going to be able to get a refund just because you were impatient and you didn't save EVEN MORE money on a purchase. Or, on a brighter note, look at it this way; you were still able to save 40% on a combination of several games.

...No. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I've bought something for full price that goes on sale a week later. And it's my fault, for not waiting.

This is like playing the stock market and trying to get a refund for shares you bought in a declining company. Yeah, you had no way of knowing it would be on sale again, but that's how every Steam sale has ever worked ever. You willingly bought the games, out of your own free will, so you're responsible. What do you expect from them, to post an announcement telling everyone about every sale a week in advance? Even then, what if you buy a game before it's announced to be on sale, is it their fault for not announcing it soon enough?

And two things- first, this doesn't make Valve like any other corporation, this makes you someone who's frustrated over not getting more money off than you could have. And second, corporation is not a synonym for evil like you people make it out to be. Gamers are so terribly hypocritical when it comes to generalizing.

So, you're pissed that they let you save money? You bought something for a reduced price and then got pissed that someone got it slightly cheaper? Really? And you know what, I don't think it's really a big fault of Steam's. I mean, they have dozens of discouts all day every day. The fact that they managed to lose track of ONE such discount among the dozens of others and discount the same game again for even more is kinda missing the point - STEAM IS OFFERING DISCOUNTS ON TONS OF GAMES and you're bitching about it. Seriously...

I bought a game the other day for $5, I can't get it to work even though my computer should meet the specs (System Requirements Lab says so, and I've played more taxing games on this computer). Am I mad at Valve/Steam? No. Am I mad at the developer, Supergiant Games? No. I'm just mad, partially at myself for not trying to run the demo I already had on my computer first...

Also, I bought that Jedi Knight bundle last year for $5, I got lucky it seems.
That sucks. Check the Steam forums on Bastion, I've had to troubleshoot a few games (recently Batman AA, Alpha Protocol and Payday) and they've always been a huge help. Only once have I had to start a thread, every other time the problem has been encountered and solved. In fact, if you have an Nvidia graphics card, PhysX is the first thing you should check. That was my issue with those three games I listed, that PhysX was too up to date. But that's a rant for another time.

OT: On the off chance this isn't a troll thread, this is the most entitled, ridiculous complaint I've heard. I bought Psychonauts a few days ago , then that same day won it in the christmas event. I didn't get upset, I didn't email Valve demanding a refund because I spent $2.50 that I didn't have to. I laughed, shook my head, and traded it with a friend for Payday. Because sometimes that will happen. Be happy you got the games for a good deal.

I really should let this go, but are you seriously complaining about this? For gods sake, this is how Steam sales go. Would you complain to Game if you were to go in a week after you bought a game to find it was on sale?

That's how the Daily Deals system works. Tough shit.

Complaining because they gave a discount one day, and a bigger discount the next, makes you look like a complete dick head.

Thanks OP! KICK ASS! I totally picked up the bundle myself and would of never gotten it without your topic. Oh and by the way I don't agree with you in the slightest, but I'm in your debt!

I have a grievance with Steam right now. Currently they've been running holiday sales with great deals for games. I decided to buy the Jedi Knight Bundle on Dec. 23rd because $11.99 was a good deal compared to the regular $19.99.

Today I log onto Steam to see what deals they had running, and lo and behold, they had the same EXACT bundle for $4.99. Suffice to say I'm pissed off to no end. I feel Steam basically screwed me over, offering 2 sales of the same product within days of each other during the same Sale period.
You could say "but you should have waited til it was lower in price." I respond to you like this: "How in the hell could I know they'd drop the price again 4 days later?"
I have sent Steam a letter tactfully and respectfully asking not for a full refund but just the difference credited to my Steam wallet, as I feel this was an unfair business practice.
Just another example why Steam isn't better than any other digital distribution company out there for you folks who hold them in high esteem.
Thank you for your time.
I bought my ps3 for 400 bucks 4 months before they released the slim model... I was a bit upset, but that's what I had to pay to get what I got when I did.

Also, the smart thing to do is buy things at the last moment, because, like you, I was going to buy bastion for it's price of 10 bucks, but instead I waited, and got it for 5.

Such great entitlement.
You missed a sale, it happens digitally, it happens in real life but that doesn't mean that it's their fault. They didn't screw you over at all, it's just your own fault. Nearly all games are on sale during the holiday sale but each day there are some really special deals and since nearly everything is on sale, it's normal that games which are already cheaper will be even cheaper. If you can't wait, it's not their problem.
This way, I could just buy a game and wait until it's cheaper a few days later and expect a refund. I'm sorry but it doesn't work that way and I don't see how it could. I've heard some good reasons why you can dislike Steam but this definitely isn't one of them.

Individual publishers setting prices. And "fair" trade laws set by the opponents of digital distribution.

You got burned by a later sale. Sorry, but it happens. And it only cost you $7 in the difference. I hate to say it, but too bad. And it's hard to say if it was even Valve's fault. I'd assume that while they probably push pretty hard to have sales, the price and timing are likely still up to the publisher.

So you got burned by a game you bought dropping in price a few days after you bought it and Valve is somehow no different than any other company?

Cry me a river. Because I can't think of any other company that runs as many awesome sales as they do, and certainly none that simply give away as much as they do. Not to mention they've spent years building a digital distribution platform that's ahead of anything else out there on any platform. And how about the fact that they are usually quite willing to do everything in their power to handle customer complaints and respect the privacy of customers (something you can't accuse some of their competition of). Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if they credit you back the difference even though you aren't entitled to it.

Yeah, they're really no different than any other company out there.

They did this to me with Batman: Arkham Asylum. I missed out saving £3 because they reduced it from £7 to £4, I'm really not that bothered.
At the end of the day you made a saving on a great bundle of games, stop being an ingrate because you could have gotten it cheaper a day later. You got great games, cheap.

Honestly, there were plenty of markings around the Storefront that would have made you well aware that a sale was going on with daily deals on games throughout. The big thing there with "News deals each day through January 1st", maybe, was a giveaway. Also the "STEAM HOLIDAY SALE" sign.

I have to agree; you sound hella entitled around about now, especially when you bought a game for dirt cheap. Your whining is more than a little pointless, and makes you look like an idiot. Which is sad because I'd be pissed too, and you're obviously acting out spur-of-the-moment spite. But it is making you look a little dumb, like you weren't paying attention or something.

I'm sorry, but there are real problems with Steam: Monopolistic behaviour, poor customer service, etc. "Not giving me the best possible deal" is not one of them.
Replace "customer service" with "customer support," and you've hit the nail on the head more accurately than anyone else here so far.

Wow, thanks for the tip, I'm so getting that pack now.

But yeah, I know exactly what you mean, pretty much the same thing happened to me with SW: Battlefront 2. No hard feelings though, the price was still fair. I'm not gonna fuss over measly five euros or so.
