I noticed that there weren't that many popular Steampunk games out there, and the few I've known aren't really that good. So, what are some Steampunk games out there that I should consider trying? (No Bioshock, it's scary and it's more Art Deco than Steampunk).

Part of me wants to say Borderlands, some of it seems a little Steampunk at times.

Only one that I ever played and enjoyed was Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, it's a few years old but it still a fun game, you can probably find it on Amazon.

Aqua on XBL is pretty fun for a little bit of time, not much to the game but it captures the look pretty well, also look up Edge of Twilight, it's upcoming and it might be good

Here look at the list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Steampunk_video_games

As far as I know, there aren't any proper steampunk games released. Possibly a little indy game on Steam called Guns of Icarus, but even that's probably more closer to Bioshock Infinite's style.
Failing that, I don't think there really are any.
I can give you lots of cyberpunk games though, if you'd like?

Arcanum. great game and dare I say it. You're freaking right! You've discovered what is possibly the only steampunk game in existence.

Which is kind of sad considering the actual size of the Steampunk community.

Why can't steampunk have horror in it? Mixing up of genres and seeing what sticks keeps things fresh.

Bioshock is art deco, Borderlands is diselpunk (e.g. Mad Max), Bioshock infinite looks like the closest thing to a triple A game which is steampunk. Bioshock is probs the cloest thing out. Hmm the penny arcade game is steampunk, but the gameplay is meh but the jokes are good.

Not a flawless game by any means. Combat system so finnicky that you wonder how it got through playtesting. Certain overpowered magical abilities due to being able to cast as fast as you can click. Bugs up the whazoo. Terrible animation.

BUT

That didn't stop me playing it through almost 3 times, just because the setting, the characters and the character generation system is such good fun.
I actually saw it for sale the other day in an (australian) EB games. Somebody decided to do another run of it for some reason.

Is guns of icarus any good btw?

Fable 2 to a certain degree I suppose, but that is kind of pushing it.

Aside from Bioshock there's nothing I can think of that comes close, I'm eagerly awaiting Binfinite though (Bioshock: Infinite, yes, no?).

That list (in the wiki link) is surprisingly short.

Can someone tell me what steam punk means? I'm seeing it turning into an internet fad word and i dont want to get caught out.

Pictured here is a computer with Steampunk design. Basically, it's aspects of the 19th Century Industrial age period mixed with aspects of Science Fiction or at least much more advanced technology.

Combat is insanely well balanced!
Harm might be a little over powered early on, but then so is pure melee.
Play Arcanum!
But youm ight want to look for some unofficial patches...It is made by Trokia.

To be honest, I have yet to play it. It's on my massive list of many things to play. I looked it up and I was interested enough that I bought it when the steam sale was on, but other than that, I couldn't tell you.
It looks original (or it did until "Aeroshock" was announced anyway).
Also, to the guy who said Dark Void and Damnation were steampunk, no... just no.
They were retrofuturism.
