of course it needs to have a point! this is giving up mobility for artistic flair with this. is that really such a smart move? also, it probably costs allot...
So? The entire point of it is the artistic flair! How are you not getting that?

Some people just confuse the hell out of me.

That is so ludicruously sexy I just fell off a completely sturdy chair. I have to go out and steampunkify something immediately. Maybe my cat.

This would be awesome to have in the living room, make a great conversational piece. It would go great beside a model like this

If I had the time/inclination/money Everything I own would be steampunk styled.

My life goal is to one day live in a home full of steampunk gizmos like this, it shall be awesome.
Yes, yes, yes. But would living in a steampunk home make you lose your grip on reality... or give you a new and far more interesting reality?
I doubt it would affect my grip on reality, partially because its already questionable at best but mostly because the rest of the world would still be (relatively) normal.
Maybe it depends on how often you go outside of the house. I mean, if you steampunked the whole place, it might be hard to leave!

it's cool but I still prefer the Cyberpunk version you know an actual computer with Google Maps on it...

I want one really really bad. A lot of the steampunk things out there amounting to plastering old watch parts over everything and that's kind of silly and pedestrian, but this is a shining gem amidst a bunch of rocks. I wonder how well it functions. But regardless its still a very neat looking thing.

1. Win the lottery

2. get a mansion and steampunkify it. (including a library with tall ceiling and fireplace, complete with chair, robe and pipe.)

3. get one of these.

4. ????

5. PROFIT (although i think step one is the profit part)

It wasn't ever meant to be mobile... it's a conceptual piece. Imagine something like this (Perhaps not steamified, though that is awesome) sitting in a classroom. Kids spin the globe and find locations and learn about them! There's a use... I know I'd much prefer a globe to spin and stuff than Google Earth.

That being said; steampunk /rocks/.

That would be so much fun to play with. Like a guy above had said, it would be "functional art" to have around.
