so im very anxious about GT5 and would love a good steering wheel with a standard H gearbox and a clutch pedal. the only 2 i can find are logitech G27 and G25 the problem is that the G27 is very expensive BUT the identical G25 is cheap but can only be founded on the dodgy side of the internet.

-do you know any other similar models?
-do you know where i can get a cheap G27 (UK)?
-do you know any reliable places i can buy a G25? (again UK)?

not to be a prick but do you really need one?
For a lot of serious racers, yes. I play with a controller on the PC, and I'd love a wheel. I think it would solve a lot of problems for me and make racers a lot more fun and less frustrating. A controller is just not precise enough for me.

Fair enough?

It's more fun to play racing games with a proper steering wheel and pedals... it feels more realistic (and doesn't have the motion control realism thing requiring standing up/weird motions/etc. can still sit comfortably and have fun). If you have the disposable income for one and enjoy it, why not get it? :)

Can't help ya though OP, haven't played racing games for ages and haven't used a steering wheel for even longer than that, an old mate had it.

Definitely agree. I have only a Logitech Momo FF wheel which is measly compared to the G27 (can't afford a G27 at the moment), but still way more fun than using a controller. I've played Grid, NFS:Shift, Dirt2 etc with an xbox controller for the PC, and the wheel is far superior..better immersion, better control and more fun. With Shift, I couldn't play for nuts with the controller...*had* to use the wheel to prevent sliding off the track on every corner.

thanks for the advice guys, i think ill save up for a G27 i seems like a really good option plus itll be used on all consoles, i bought a wheel for my PS2 but could only be used on PS2 with G27 it can be used on 360s and probably even the PS4 (when its released)

ive just found out that the PSeye can track your head movement so you can look around easily, thats should make it alot better too

i cant stand those wheels with paddle shifters or a shifter without a clutch, for some reason it just annoys me. considering the majority of europe drives a manual (stick shift) i dont understand why wheels with this set-up arent more common

I always hated the horrible static feel of all steering wheel controllers, the home ones and the shitty penny arcade ones. Maybe they feel more smooth now but I wouldn't ever consider buying one to play a racing game, apart from looking like a prick I'd probably find it harder to scroll through the menu's and all that

they have directional buttons so menus arent really a problem

i know its not like the real thing but it sure as hell is alot more fun, with a proper gear box itll be even more fun

You should check to see whether these will actually work on the PS3 now, because I've read rumours that since Sony removed 3rd Party controller support a lot of USB peripherals like this no longer work, plus with GT5 there's no way you can play it without the 3.50 firmware update.

If these are officially licensed by Sony there shouldn't be a problem, but if they're not there's about a 75% chance they won't work.

thats interesting, i have a 98% feeling that it would work. the official GT5 wheel is a logitech so i dont see a problem
