Moffat's Who was closer to old Who, which what I grew up on. That said, Moffat needed a good editor looking over his shoulder to stop the excesses of postmodernism to which he is prone. Someone needs to whisper into his ear you are not Harold Pinter and stop trying to be him. Its the right time for Moffat to move on because he has taken Who as far as he can and needs a new hand on the helm to keep it going. Part of the problem is that people expect Dr Who to be like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica when it's not ever going to be. The show isn't made for 25 year old Sci Fi fans but a more general audience which does not like what you like.
