Many of you will see this title and say "What the hell?" so I want to be clear:
This thread is about what stereotypes people have of you (or do not have of you, but should), and if those stereotypes are true or false.
You can mention any stereotype you want, and I really don't want this thread to degenerate into "people stereotype me as a loser, and I am".

So I'll go first:

One stereotype people have of me, is that I am a loner.
This is somewhat true, because I spend alot of time alone on my computer, or playing on one of my consoles. Generic "loner" activity right?
But it is not true, because I spend alot of time with my friends, whenever I am playing a game, it is usually with friends, and even as I post on these forums, I am interacting with people.
Just because I sometimes choose not to interact with people IRL, does not mean I hate spending time with people, and live in a hut a thousand miles from any humanity (although that would be pretty cool).

One stereotype some people have of me, is that I am a metalhead.
Also somewhat true, I do love alot of metal. I find myself liking more metal, and more types of metal, than any other genre.
But it is not entirely true, because I listen to alot of other music as well. Hell, I frequent my trance playlist more than my metal playlist!
I have been to more metal concerts than any other genre, but I've also seen Arcade Fire, Alexisonfire, and Lights. I'd rate Arcade Fire as one of the best shows I've ever been to!

So, now it is your turn =D
Again, I don't want this to turn into a "WOE IS ME!!!" thread, or a "well THAT person really IS their stereotype" thread.

Well in school I was the "rocker" despite mainly listening to game music and film music, seriously my iPod is filled with all sorts including the Blues Brothers soundtrack. XD Er, but I wear fishnet arm warmers so OMG I AM TOTALLY A ROCKER YEAH? >.> I like all sorts of music XD

Another is that I am just an otaku. Which again isn't true. I watch anime and read manga but then again I also read Sherlock Holmes books and have all the CS Lewis books so does that make me a bookworm? Again probably not.

And finally that I am just another Londoner...Ah...I don't even have a London accent despite living and growing up in the East End for 13 years. I also lived in Wales for four years so again that one's not true

Stereotypes and the way people percieve you from tiny details always makes me laugh. XD

I'm a black nerd.
I'm up to date on my hip hop, but I can also explain why Han statement about his ship making the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs makes sense.
Holla at ya boy

I'm an Italian, metalhead biker who's an Asatru and has a fondness and talent for writing doesn't like conformism but wants to be a film director/actor who develops mods and video games in his friend's basement but sucks at math and science and I do Karate....actually that's not a stereotype of me, it IS me. All of the things above but seperated ae the stereotypes of me.

lol, I've been branded as an Otaku as well, and it makes me chuckle.
Reading the Halo books, Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, religious books (for trolling purposes), as WELL as manga = Otaku? wait...wut?

Stereotypes are only funny if you are able to laugh at yourself, and see how incredibly inaccurate they are

Although, getting branded as a gamer is perfectly fine with me. Its getting branded as a specific type of gamer, that frustrates me.
I play WoW, but I have a life as well.
I enjoy Starcraft, am pretty good at it, but am not Korean.
I enjoy playing MW2, but I also enjoy playing good games as well.

Stereotypes express ignorance, and it is always amusing to laugh at ignorance.

People used to sterotype me as emo, but that wasn't true. Then they sterotyped me as a nerd, that was somewhat true. They look at me now however and they don't know if they can sterotype me as anything but a "gamer." Honestly I don't know what sterotype I am, so I'm gonna go with loner.

I'm a short tempered, violently aggressive cross dresser with penis envy.

With the exception of the last one all of which are true.

Controlled firebrand personality. Generally pretty calm and collected. When I start to focus on something, not a whole lot can get my attention. Piss me off and you'll probably feel the brunt of it. If I'm trying to get something done and you're standing in my way? You're in a very precarious position and I highly recommend moving.
