Being a punk means I'm either a violent drunkard or a violent straightedge with no social awareness, I also believe in anarchy and chaos, because they're the same thing right?

I am, for the most part, against violence, I really don't want anyone get hurt unless it's through willing participation (example. a mosh pit, you know what happens there, if you get hurt, your fault)

I don't drink a lot, but I'm certainly not straightedge.

I actively try and be as polite as I can to the people I have to interact with.

I do believe in anarchy, and anarchy is not chaos or violence, at all. At all.

I'm a woman attracted to women and looking for a relationship; quick, keep away from me if you're female, I OBVIOUSLY want to sleep with you just because you're of the same gender as me.

Not often, but there have been people who assume I'm attracted to them because they're female and that I can't keep female friends because I want to sleep with all of them. Wat.

As a web-programmer

- I can't hack into other websites/government facilities (unless i can use an SQL injection on a login form, wich just about every webpage is protected against)

- I can't fix EVERY problem on your computer

- ...or your Phone

- ...or your TV

- ...or your camera

- ...especially not over the phone when the problem is described as "it doesn't work"

- Granted, i can fix some, or even many problems on your computer, but that is not because of my mystical computer-stuff-abilities, but because i can read.

- And i probably wear glasses because both my parents also have to wear them. Not every "computer guy" wears glasses you know.

- And i don't know every programming language, wich is unfortunate, i admit.

Hate #1: The British Stereotype: No I am not gay, I am not xenophobic, I am not going to instantly assume I'm better than you, I will make an effort to learn your language, AND NO I DO NOT LIKE TEA!
always the tea... but you missed out that we live in castles and everyone's met the queen!
Well, I couldn't really argue with that seem as I actually have met the Queen, but I can see how that would be annoying.

"Oh my GOD! He's a Pedophile, he molests children and he'll molest yours too! KILL HIM!!!"

Every. Mother. Fucking. Time.

Worst stereotype ever, at least in my opinion. :/

[sub]In case it wasn't obvious, no, I do not molest children.[/sub]
I think so too. No, molesting children is not ok, but why do people think that the best way to cure what is a psychological condition is too hound them to the edges of society and treat them like they can't be cured. Somehow I don't think I would see that as an incentive to get help.

"No, you're not fooling me, that's your GF. She's black and you're not, she can't 'possibly' be your sister." (I realize this one doesn't exactly match the topic, but still wanted to mention. Can understand people not guessing at first glance, but not believing when told is another. >< )

"AAAH, long hair and leather gloves! Don't walk too close, it might lash out!"

Another odd example is that people think me a 35 year old English language teacher on MMOs. No, I just like my rambling to be grammatically correct, and it actually wouldn't hurt if some people would follow up on that thought.

The first popping up: the Goth/Punk stereotypes.
Nah i am not depressive, quite the contrary, like most people in the scene(s) i know, childish hedonists.
Nah i dont wanna die, see point one.
Nah, we dont meet at graveyards. But we would consider if they had a bar and music.
No i am not unemployed and sleep during day. I got my 2 jobs and study to be (probably) a teacher in a few years. Well i would sleep during day if i could, but that only works with job 1.
So relax i am not a beggar.
I am not antisocial. Quite the contrary, but i choose the freedom to pick the ones i share my sympathy with.
No i am not a nazi.Again the contrary, ask my scars and the police. No i am not a communist. No i am not an Anarchist (except from the romantic teen past me ;) ). Ok you got me with the satanist part, but you probably dont even know what the word means, buy a book about modern philosophy.
Yes i am arrogant, but i was before, just coincidence.
Well when it comes to behaviour at parties.. i guess those arent stereotypes or prejudices, i guess people got a pretty good insight into those in the scenes.

I don't like being lumped into any stereotypes.

Luckily, I rarely get categorized into one.

Amazing how random people I meet kind of give me a weird look when I discuss my girlfriend after they find out I play video games and D&D and read comics, then they meet said girlfriend and discover she is a former model who is in law school, and they all give me this apologetic look

I thought that stereotype was only applied to Catholics? :/
Sadly most people consider all Christians to be the same, I've had people try to get advice from me on how baptist churchs work despite being a Roman Catholic

As an Asian:

1) I am not a bad driver. The trashcan gave me a funny look and asked for it okay??!...and so did the dog...and the old woman...and the telephone pole.

2) I can see normally and do not have hi-def widescreen vision

3) Just because I'm asian does NOT mean I can play piano/violin/cello/guitar. Only the first and last.

4) Believe it or not, I stink at Starcraft.

How are your math skills?

No sheep herding.
No sexual attraction to sheep.
NO DEEP-FRIED MARS BARS FFS! Nobody has them on the menu that I know of (although there ARE a few places you can get them to put anything in the frier), they are not a delicacy, I have never tried one.

NO LOCH NESS MONSTER.

Guess where I'm from ;)

(There are 9001 more stereotypes I don't fit for the UK as a whole, but I just listed a few that apply to me about my own country)

I'll be here all day listing stereotypes regarding being tall, a gamer, intelligent, self-teacher of Japanese, guitar-player, hentai-watcher, fur...uh, I think I'll stop there... XD

Oh actually, one more thing, in regards to being intelligent:
Yes I got excellent grades, yes I did next to no revision/cramming, no I'm not lying, no seriously, I'm not lying. You know why? I actually listen to the teacher, I pay attention during class and I do my homework on time. I guess general logical-mindedness and intelligence play a role too, though...

"You're tall, do you play basketball?"

What an insightful question, no one has ever asked me that in my fourteen years of existence.

Actually, this together with bi's i think is only partially because of stereotyping. As you hinted yourself, they simply don't know if you like them for sexual reasons. They (assume) they're familiar with how to distinguish it with the opposite sex, but they have no experience how to distinguish it regarding their own sex. Thus, fear takes over.

You say they could just ask? Well, they would feel awkward about it, plus the dogma says that discriminating by sex is bad. If they ask, then that could "symbolize" exactly what you described, and that would be discriminating. Soo, uh, better just walk around the issue, THINK the worst and act according to the worst (because that IS socially acceptable :)

Or in short: They're just weak and unexperienced.

A lot of people seem to think I'm gay the first time they see me.

I dress slightly different and I am a generally happy / talkative / enthousiastic person. That's all. I don't mind the stereotype, it's just strange.
