LOL nothing like the Escapist for the most opinion-drenched biased "news" on the net. I mean, I actually agree with you completely on this one...it just makes me laugh how this calls itself a news site instead of an editorial site. And before I get 100 comments saying "You don't have to come here then!" Trust me, I know that. I do like the site...I just wish they would tone it down a bit. I'm all for infusing your opinions when acceptable, but with opinions this inflammatory I will visit this site less and less for news and only show up when I want to know what "some dude on the site's payroll whose qualification for his opinions is that he is on the site's payroll" has to say. No news is unbiased, but seriously...if I want to know what the new iPad is all about, I don't necessarily need a giant diatribe on how you hate the anti-middle class marketing stratagem of a major company because you can't afford and don't want one of their flagship products. I mean, no offense man, you're a solid writer, but who cares if you want one? That has nothing to do with why the article was written.
You do realize that all of the articles on here are unbiased. They present the facts exactly how they are in their news post. Then they sometimes put in THEIR OWN PERSONAL OPINION. Something that you're doing right now. The last part of the article is clearly the opinion of the article writer, and has nothing to do with the actual story because it had already been presented. What you're saying is that people can not have personal opinions and this forum counts as something that should be unbiased.

If you read the first half of the article you get the information you are stating is not there. Even though it is. He just injects his personal opinion in it, clearly shown by the letter "I" being used in those sections. If you think that there should be no official "personal opinion" on news stories where everything presented is counted as fact, go read faux news fox news.

Wait... Why would you want one?
Also what the hell is the difference? if it's literally 0.2 pounds lighter and a bit faster that's really not much of an upgrade, they could have just changed it without telling anyone. This is just a marketing stunt

If I had enough money to buy Apple products, I'd instead save that money to buy the greatest PC and/or laptop ever put together. I'd probably have enough left over to get a top notch phone from a company with service that doesn't suck.

Where do we call ourselves that? Though we post news, we are not a "news site" - our primary content has always been editorial articles and videos. There's no plans to change that.

If you want a news site, you should try CNN.

I will never understand why you would want a iPad. Seriously. I don't get it.
It's an excellent "light laptop" for web browsing and videos. It's easily the best device out there for reading PDFs (like P&P game manuals) or for reading digital comic books. It also serves well as an ebook reader. Since mine has a data connection, I also use it as a full-fledged GPS system while traveling. The data plan is also significantly cheaper than the one you would need to get a cellular connection for a laptop, or one of those cellular WiFi nodes, making it the best portable web browsing device.

It's also a respectable gaming system in its own right, for lightweight games. For example, the iPad version of Plants vs. Zombies is, by far, the best one. Words with Friends is great multiplayer, and plays much better than on a phone.

The reason fox news is so effective at being biased is because it is normally filled with facts. It is the way they are presented that make it bias. (BTW bias simply means an inclination. see: the dictionary. If you don't think this article's author is "inclined" one way or another then you read it wrong) For example, since you seem to think this phenomenon is absent from the story, note where the author states: "oh, and it comes in white." There is no "I" as you so readily point out, and yet the way that this fact is written and added drips from the author's bias (read: opinions on the matter). Personal bias is not, let me repeat, not misinformation. Thus, I never claimed such. And by the way, yes, Escapist articles ARE ADMITTEDLY filled with author bias. It is the site's style. They don't even deny it. I have had more than one staff member tell me such. Author's are encouraged to add their personal take and opinions into their stories. And yes, that is bias. My complaint is a stylistic one. I feel as though it is a good personal touch which would be better if used in moderation like most of their articles. This one just seemed particularly rife with it to me.

I don't know Virgil, it is called the NEWS FEED after all. This is also called THE NEWS ROOM. And as I just finished responding to someone else, I know that authors present their opinions. I just feel that it is best done in moderation. This sort of negativity is too pervasive.

how is it stealing the thunder when every one and their mom knew its going to happen?
This is my thought exactly. It was like predicting an assassination of a political person will happen somewhere in the world in the next 100 years. It's just duh..

If i were in that tablet market, i'd be going Kindle aswell.

So...there's a brand new version of a device that's still brand new? Damn, Apple give your products so time to age before replacing them. Exactly how much disposable money do you think trendy hipster douche-canoes have? If I were to get a pad style device...I'd go for an andriod version. They're so much cheaper.

If it wasn't for the fact it was made by Apple and expensive, I'd get one because of this. Sadly, while I agree that they are very well made products, I prefer to stay clear of Apple.

I always figured it was called the news room because it highlights interesting new stuff that pops up. Stuff related to games or the nerd sphere. I come to the escapist because I find it entertaining, and this 'news' area is, imo, also here to entertain.

I don't feel any claims were ever made that this stuff is fair to the subject presented, which is why I think it's okay that bias does fill some of these threads. If I am interested in one of the news topics, I go to other sources to get unbiased views. I think that's okay.

Guys, why the hate? Apple brings in new stuff, gets people to pay for beta testing it, do some more research, and when the technology is ripe, everyone else starts doing it too and you can get an upgraded thing for cheaper. What's to hate?

However it would be nice just to say you dont like it rather than insult Apple in every sentence.

I thought "GDC" stood for "Game Developer's Conference", not "Goalless Developed Contraptions".
