The hate isn't because they're making money, it's because they're making money for recreating the same game over and over again, but with new maps and like five new guns.
Honestly, I don't even hate CoD for that anymore, now I just wish the community would stop raving over it and getting pissed whenever someone isn't.

For PC, the MW franchise took a giant leap backwards with the miltiplayer in MW2. It still isnt back to CoD4 standard in MW3 and it is a step backward if we include Black Op in this too. MW hasnt really had a story to speak since the first one of so tell me, if a game is still behind it 2 time predecessor, how is it true to the series and unique in any way that could be considered good?

Just to point out . . . in the hardcore PC gaming community, the amount of actual work that's gone into the most recent titles qualifies more as a "mod" more-so than a new installment.

I mean, hell - you'd swear they've got script kiddies designing the games at this point. I'd bet damn good money that if IW or Treyarch would cough up decent enough tools, the PC modding communities could create something that far outshines what they've been releasing the last few years, in the same amount (or less) time it takes them to cough up another installment to the series.

Waitaminute . . . now I see why they don't want to release any decent tools to the community! The mods would outshine the retail products!

I don't hate the games for what they are, or for who plays them. I dislike them personally as they are not to my taste, sure, but I "hate" what they do to the video game industry. I hold them to be no different than any other stagnant, repetitive, low-value, committee-designed game-a-years; they're just more so, as the most popular iteration of the pattern.

I'm hardly the only one on this thread who thinks this way, so I'll just endorse the reasons you can find above my post as to why this is a bad pattern. If you find the games fun, don't let me stop you, but I worry about what messages we're sending to publishers and developers when we show that we're willing to buy umpteen-zillion copies of the same shallow-but-pretty game, only different every year.

Oh for Christ's sake. I love the COD games as much as any other guy, but honestly it's just not worth taking that seriously. It's just a GAME! Some people prefer Skyrim or Minecraft or Halo or what have you. I personally like pretty much any game (with some exceptions) that isn't an RTS or intened for six year old and under girls. It's a matter of personal taste. Me? I'm fine with paying sixty dollars every 14-15 months for a game with some things added to the multiplayer formula. Others? Not so much.

At fist I thought Modern Warfare is the most boring shooter ever because it's Unreal Tournament without awesome dodging, hardcore weapons, cool levels, and everything, but this review made my mind do a 360! Modern Warfare 3 is awesome. People don't like it because it's the 'in' thing to do.

I kinda sympathize with your cause, OP, but these threads don't solve anything. It seems there's at least one every time I log on, and people still hate CoD. That's the beautiful part of opinions; no matter what yours is, someone will always be around to argue with, no matter what you do.

The game is fun, I played MW3 with a freind for all of 8 minutes. Killed the same guy 3 times in one life, and we got a voice message telling me to "suck dick and go die" because im a "no life scrub". He sounded prepubescent.

I'll stop hating once it stops sucking, or once it starts getting sales numbers that don't make the whole industry go "well how can we be more like that mediocre hunk of shit so people will buy our game by the trillions?"

To be more articulate: I KNOW for a FACT that the sales numbers on this game will make other game publishers look for more games like this, Hence why every major publisher is mostly only pushing out FPS games, or why they're tweaking existing genres to be more FPS-like (anyone else miss top-down role-playing games?), and I fear eventually maybe they'll link the sales to the bland, explosion heavy plot, and then they'll only want to publish games with bland explosive heavy plots. Not acceptable.

Also, the series doesn't even hold a candle to Battlefield 2 let alone Battlefield 3. It's like someone believing in scientology, I just can't let it go unquestioned.

In all seriousness, People just need to get over which shooter is better because at the end of the day it still point gun at thing and then press to shoot. yeah sure BF has vehicles but you're still using it to shoot shit. and everyones acting like this is an innovation? oh but BF has destruction scenery and you can destroy cover. Who gives a shit about the fricking destructo scenery? and i don't buy the fact that CoD is mediocre because it's not, it's solid and so what if it doesn't change? Why fix what isn't broken? It all comes down to everyone always wanting INNOVATION. If a game doesn't have any Innovation people will just dispel it as a piece of crap for doing nothing new. so what if it doesn't do anything new? but if a game does Innovation (and it sucks) people will sing praises for it saying wow the innovation has flaws but it's just BRILLIANT INNOVATION.

in the end Innovation can go fuck itself, and i'm going back to enjoying MW3 why? because its just fun. i don't base any criticism on any games existence other than fun. I had fun with BF3, and I'm having fun with MW3. some may say so what? well isn't that why we all play games in the first place to have some fucking fun? but as this will probably be quoted by people who'll then point flaws in my argument then renders my efforts all for naught.
