Trailer on the second of november, otherwise no information.

Given their track record with re-releasing the cities from GTA 1 (Liberty City, Vice City, San Andreas) I figure we'll probably see VC again or possibly all three.

I know they patented GTA Tokyo at one point and never did anything with it but the American dollar note style V seems to point to an American setting.

I hope the PC version is better optimized than the previous GTA titles were though.

Is it going to be more like San Andreas or Vice City?

If no then I don't care. I loved SA and VC and hated IV.

This just made me realize I'm finally at the point where I believe I can get by this one without even giving it a try. So long GTA, I do not care about you.

Eh, I'm not as big a fan of GTA as I used to be. San Andreas was the last one I really played. Still haven't tried GTA IV yet.

The font style on the V logo looks to me like it's going to be in more of a gangster settings, like San Andreas. Fingers crossed for that.
San Andreas was the best in the series. I hope we get the same customization and great lead character.

...Saints Row: The Third will already be out by the time this even sees a glimmer of light.
Who cares anymore? GTA games of this generation are void of fun.

People "announce" trailers for games? How pointless...

Maybe when I actually see the trailer, I'll start caring a little more (assuming the trailer contains actual gameplay, that is). Actually, I prefer the Saints Row games over Grand Theft Auto these days anyway, though I will keep my eye on it when there's actually something there for me to keep my eye on.

I really hope this is a late announcement and it'll be out for Christmas. I also hope it's just like IV, but even more self indulgent, grim and trudging. The people who want over the top rubbish have got Saints Row, I love the new direction GTA took with IV.

EDIT - Also, that font looks familiar -

Although looking into it a bit I see they use a similar font on Dollars. Shame.

This news makes me happy face :D. Seems I'm in the minority of people in this community who actually loved GTA IV and I eagerly look forward to this next installment.

To be honest I wasn't a big fan of IV (although I might pick it up again pre owned some day if I see it super cheap) but will be checking out V nonetheless.

I just hope they consider a bit more of a San Andreas angle instead of the ultra realistic IV.

I liked GTAIV. Sure it wasn't as good as SA, but story-wise I felt it was among the strongest in the series and I definitely preferred Niko as a protagonist. If they can improve upon IV I'll be pretty happy.

I have to agree with this, GTA should be all about the slightly campy yet still mildly serious pop culture satire. I feel VC nailed this to an absolute tee, while GTA3 remains my favourite of the series.

GTAIV tried too hard to be a super serious scorsese-esque gangster flick. I can see why Rockstar were going for that, but it just came off as flat, dull, and outright uninteresting for a good portion of the game.

Saints Row is too off the walls for me. I think the perfect balance needs to be struck between realism and surrealism. Vice City was a parody of pop culture from the 80's and 90's. Saints Row was a parody of itself.

Guessing its going to be in San Andreas. Why? Because the map of GTA IV looks similar to Liberty City in GTA 1 and in the story you go from Liberty to San Andreas then to Vice City.

It's odd how GTA4 has become the plague dog that it is the eyes of this community yet Red Dead Redemption is hailed as a masterpiece, despite suffering even worse from the issues for which GTA4 is loathed.

Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what Rockstar is going to deliver. I just hope they bring back some of that Bully magic.

Wonder if they'll stick with the trend they had with 4, or revert back? They did get themselves a lot of complaints about some of the "boring" aspects in 4 (Bowling, for instance), but at the same time I'm not sure they've got the experience of wacky unrealism to match with Saint's Row. They did seem to dial back the grittiness in the DLC (esp. Ballad), so we'll have to see.

I'm interested either way. Of course, I would love GTA5 to be set in a London-expy, but that's because GTA: London was awesome.

Meh. I think Vice City was the last good one; everything since then has been a load of wank. I'll keep an eye on it, but I'm not terribly optimistic.
