It's odd how GTA4 has become the plague dog that it is the eyes of this community yet Red Dead Redemption is hailed as a masterpiece, despite suffering even worse from the issues for which GTA4 is loathed.

Anyway, I'm interested in seeing what Rockstar is going to deliver. I just hope they bring back some of that Bully magic.
One word explains all: Yahtzee

OT: Looking forward to this, I liked both SA and IV in their own ways though I liked the story more in the latter so I hope it will be a mixture of what was good in both.

Like quite a few people here I liked the PS2 games a lot, but GTAIV is on the very short list of games I hated so much I traded it in for something better (and I can count the number of games I've done that with on one hand). If it's just going to be more of what we got last time around then I'll have a hard time giving a crap. I didn't even really mind the attempt to make the game a bit more serious so much as I hated being required to waste time playing some of the worst mini games I've ever seen to maintain relationships with dull characters.

Now Im sure this will be very, very good. But they need to do one thing. Get the driving right!. Also there had been rumors that it will be set in Los Santos, which is basically there version of Los Angales.

I'm definitely interested in seeing what they are going to deliver! I'll definitely keep my eyes open on the 2nd to see what the trailer is like for sure.

I'll probably get it regardless, as I've always personally enjoyed the GTA series

Why the negativity in this topic, I'm looking forward to it, as I liked GTA 4.

I have heard that it's based around Hollywood, and LA, but that was only a rumour that went around a while ago.

If you want explosions, Jetpacks, and Human Catapult rubbish, then just play Saints Row, simples.

I personally want a interesting story, and setting in my GTA games. Mainly because in the previous GTA's (like Vice, and San Andreas) I had no enthusiasm to complete any of the missions, because the stories were so drab, so the only thing that was fun about those ones was hitting people with screwdrivers, or using a flying car cheat. Which didn't make a great game to be honest.

Awesome! I was just about to post about this but it looks like I just got ninja'd. I was wondering why it's not all over gaming news sites yet, I guess it's only just showed up.

Wow, I didn't think that GTAV would get this much hate, and all because IV was slightly too realistic? Either way, i'm definitely excited to try this out.

Unless theyve taken onboard the massive amounts of complaints ive heard about it loosing its original wacky fun and continues aiming for realism/ oh so boring crud they force you to do, then gta 5 might just singal the begining of the end.

But as saints row 3 is coming out, which has out gtaed gta this console generation, im not really fussed.

Man, I loved the hell out of GTA 4. Seriously, it'd be in my top 5 games of the past five years.
So yeah, this news excites me very much.
And if GTA 5 was a return to the whackier, more over-the-top antics of the GTA's pre-GTA 4, that'd still be awesome.

I hope they throw out all the realistic monotonous bullshit.

Taking someone bowling is not my idea of a fun game. Especially when it's GTA.

Hell, I'd be surprised if it wasn't much better. There's no way Rockstar wouldn't have listened to pretty much the only bad aspect of the game.

Forgot to say this. But the most exciting thing about this is I will have more people that call me to go bowling with them!

What the fuck is up with you guys? Have you all caught the cynicism virus from Yahtzee?

ITS A NEW FUCKING GTA GAME! I don't really care in what direction they go with it. I prefer the humourous and crazy Vice/SA style but i'm not gonna front, GTA IV had some really touching moments and overall Rockstar pulled off a very weighty story without being heavy-handed.

100%, please no emo immigrants with annoying cousins this time around Rockstar.

Until I get more info I couldnt careless- Saints Row will do me fine.

I suppose I'm in a minority of people who actually loved GTA IV. I ended up trading it in for Just Cause 2 so that my parents wouldn't know I had it, but it was a great game. I hope they stick with the Euphoria physics, because I honestly spent more time plowing into people and watching them try to survive than I did playing the actual story. Now that I think of it, I didn't actually finish the game. Playing with physics is way too fun.

It wasn't very well-optimized on PC, though. I've bought two games using Securom DRM: Witcher 2 and GTA IV. Both of them had terrible framerates, even when they both auto-optimized to high graphics and max resolution.

Its not cynicism as it is wary caution after 4 was so squarely aimed at a different crowd then normal.
I for one was bored to death by GTA4- it was dull, far too easy with none of the previous games madcap fun or humour.
