I guess Riot pulling the term "Marksman" to suddenly replace the term "AD Carry" in League. Seriously out of nowhere, no trace of anyone using it before. Stop. It ain't working.

Plus it's completely cringeworthy.

"I PLAY MARKSMAN!"

*facepalm*

You know, ever since the "selfie" became a thing, I've been silently facepalming often on the interent. Not only does the word sound rather pretentious, that's also how the act looks. Dunno why, but I'm a bit averse to people doing stuff that just screams "Hey, look at me, look at me!"
Let's throw the duck face in with that. Sadly, I think it is actually a "thing", it's just a thing that needs to stop.

No, ladies, you will not get Angelina Jolie's lips by pouting. It doesn't work like that.

Well I can't speak for adults who do that but as a teenager it feels good to look good. Nothing heinous about in my opinion.
When people start taking 'selfies' while DRIVING and immediately post it to facebook/twitter, that's when selfies enter the dangerous territory and needs to die.

OT: Google +
No Google, your silly service will not catch on so stop forcing it into everything, like for example youtube because people will despise it more.
Speaking of youtube, i predict within 3 'updates' they will permanently break youtube to a point of no return.

Yesterday, there was this article on Cracked about ridiculous product placements. One of them was in some cop show where a character was looking for information about a person, and somebody told her to "Bing it."

SNIPPED REST
HA, I know exactly which show that was! Or COULD have been from. I'd been binging (heh) through all the seasons of Bones because I was mistakenly under the impression that it was finished - it's not, it's on season freaking NINE now, but Matt Borealis David Boreanaz is leaving so an end must be in sight - and Booth's journalist girlfriend in season 6 said, "I binged it". I was all snarky about it on Twitter =P That show has some utterly blatant product placements, especially from Microsoft. Lots of close-ups to Windows phones being used.

There's also Toyota; they keep going into detail of all the cool things Bones' Prius can do: "Wow what's that, Bones?" "Oh, that's my [super duper cool technical gadget] that came with my fuel-efficient Prius, Booth." Etc, etc...

As for OT? I have no clue. I guess there are those reaction videos IIRC that the Nostalgia Critic guy was/is trying to make a thing. Not going to happen, dude. Nope.

Unless you count the PSX console, which was a PS2 with DVR functionality, so something completely separate.
WHY AM I ONLY NOW HEARING ABOUT THIS THING?! To protect against a low-content post...Panasonic and Nintendo teamed up to make a Gamecube that plays DVDs at one point:

"YOLO". Sadly it actually seems to have become a thing, but damn if it doesn't make me want to punch something when I hear it.

I think it was Japan-only, which means it wasn't marketed elsewhere most likely. I think I saw an article on it once in a gaming magazine, but otherwise....

Marksman implies a Ranged AD Carry. It's a way to differentiate between say, Caitlyn and Master Yi - both are AD Carries, but they fill vastly different roles.

If I recall properly, during that whole.. Freedom Fries... thing, some French official was asked their opinion on it. I can't quite remember exactly how it went, but they basically pointed out that they don't actually care about something so petty, but that "French" Fries were actually a Belgian food.

When someone first used the word "selfie", I thought they meant they were going to perform some sort of sexual act on themselves, possibly while filming it. Needless to say, I avoid the term like the plague in mealtime conversation.
Well, since taking and posting "selfies" is generally done to stroke one's ego, I'd say your initial reaction wasn't too far off the mark.

A classic example is "freedom fries." Some Americans suggested that as a protest to French opposition to the Iraq war, we should stop saying "french fries" and start saying "freedom fries." Needless to say, the expression did not catch on.
Actually, it sorta did. The people behind it got menus redone in certain government cafeterias.

It's particularly annoying because they were inspired by similar renamings of German food in WW2.

That is, if France doesn't want to kill Iraqis, they are Nazis.
We did a similar thing in the UK in world war one. Thats the reason why german shepards are known as alsatians in the UK

On a similar note of renaming geographical foods. I wish the european union would stop this stupid idea that you can only call it cheddar cheese if it is sourced from cheddar or that brussells sprouts can only be named so if they are sourced from brussells

Why dont they just call them chips like we do. It kinda eliminates the whole 'murica fell of the word "freedom fries"

Oh God, for a while EVERY show I watched on CBS and NBC was doing this with something. So annoying!

As for OT? I have no clue. I guess there are those reaction videos IIRC that the Nostalgia Critic guy was/is trying to make a thing. Not going to happen, dude. Nope.
Yeah, he (unfortunately) manages to beat to death even the funny things that organically come up, so those esults are going nowhere.

Which is good, because they suffer from the Family Guy problem of banging on a joke waaay too long.

One thing I can still stand is "legit". Maybe it depends on who uses it. Jim Sterling just said "...but the angry whopper is fucking legit" on the podcast I'm listening to and it made me laugh, so I suppose it works when he does it.

I'm not all up on my hip lingo, but I'm pretty sure it was originally a euphemism for such prurient activities. If it wasn't...well, it is now.

Yeah I get that but traditional melee carries like Yi are dead and gone, ranged carries are the only ones played so the new term is not really needed. The current meta, the meta in general for a good while now is a ranged AD/support bot lane. You know what happens if you send a fuckin' Yi bot vs a competent AD? He's done. He's going to be poked down from the start of the game onwards so if he sticks around in farming range he'll die, so we have an underleveled and underfarmed Yi. AKA useless as fuck.

He can still be played top or jungle VERY rarely but the meta is a tanky jungle and a bruiser top, but calling adc in champ select explicitly means bot lane unless you clarify you're "breaking the meta" and going Yi/Khazix bot lane to feed the Caitlyn.

Nobody calls marksman. Ever. Bad term is bad.
