i want to hear your coolest and most embarrasing storys.
Ok. I think I've got one.
I went into a shop to buy some soap and stood at the counter whilst it got scanned, etc. and realized that the girl serving me was kinda distracted. I mean, like really distracted... looking off to my right. I thought nothing of it and got my money ready and then I heard this strong Irish voice beside me. I looked across to the next shop assistant whose eyes were gleaming with barely suppressed excitement and who was selling a new mobile phone to Bob Geldof.
Ok. Bob Geldof. Once regarded to be the world's most famous person. Not
that much of a surprise, but kinda cool.
I had found myself standing next to him before in another shop, when he was looking to buy a newspaper. With him on the cover.
He was such a cheapskate that he read the front page and left without buying it.
Anyway, this business with the mobile phone is getting pretty involved and the shop assistant is giving him really good service and I get to think about how Bob Geldof uses his mobile a lot and organizes Live 8 and has World Leaders and Celebrities phone numbers on it; and I realize that I may be standing next to the single biggest mobile phone user on the planet. More so than the US President, who is not only desk bound, but routes his calls through a secretary, etc.
Again, cool.
I pay for my soap and the girl asks me if I want any credit for my mobile.
No, thank you. I don't own a mobile telephone.
This could be regarded, by some, to be... embarrassing... yet, I find my lack of connection kinda cool.
