2 games both rated MA15+ (Aus, they'd be R 18+ elsewhere yeah?)
Still lucky xD

In Germany, where I live, Dead Rising 2 got indexed which means it may not be sold or advertised publicly so you gotta walk to special stores with separated "18+"-sections and look through all the pr0n to get it xD

Wow, sounds like my kind of shop. ^_^
It basically means a designated video store...these places HAVE to have separated 18only Areas...but yeah: pretty rad anyways :D

I see no problem here. I played my first 18 when I was nine. I played my first game when I was one, there has been no adverse effects on me. Infact, I'm a pacifist. That is if you're suggesting that it will cause the kid to have violent tendencies.

Well today after work I was down at JB Hi-Fi and browsing the PC games as you do. While I'm standing back seeing whats cheap or tickles my fancy, A mother and her 2 kids, a boy and a girl, no older then 10 (probably 8-9ish), walk by and said mother picks up dead rising 2 and says "Here's a zombie game you might like" to the boy, (the girl wonders around the corner now, not interested). I didn't exactly catch what was said next, something along the lines of "can I get 2 games for my birthday" from the boy, and the mother mentioning that "You'll have to wait for Black ops".

I stood there speechless as this person just offered her 8-9 year old son 2 games both rated MA15+ (Aus, they'd be R 18+ elsewhere yeah?) I couldn't figure out what the fuck just happened. She seemed to know at least a little bit about the games (she got the names right, thats more then most parents) yet offered her 8 year old freaking Dead Rising. Man I wasn't even allowed to watch the Simpsons when I was 8.

TL:DR Mum suggests 8 year old would enjoy Dead Rising.

Now did that boy have is mum whipped or is she crazy ignorant, or just a bad parent? Or am I crazy in thinking something is wrong here?
Just depends on the way you were brought up. I'm twenty years old the now but way back when Vice was released for the PS double my Mom got it for without a second thought. It's not that the parents are necessarily bad it's just either some serious trust in their kids or just responsibility issues.

Then again maybe it is that they're bad parents.

Lol well XD

Oh no, he got DR2, he's well gonna go a rampage with a chainsaw duct taped to a crucifix. I was playing GTA at 8, it doesn't make a difference. Video games causing violence is balls. Video games being used as a scapegoat for bad parenting and mental illness, that I believe.
