Yeh this was wrong. The guy was an idiot, and yeh maybe challenging him and telling him to leave was probably warranted but attacking him?

Nope. Not a chance.

Violence is NEVER acceptable.

I support the gay community, but when someone speaks such a slur that is common in today's society, don't react unless he is going to physically harm you. The word, '******' is like the racial slur 'N word' towards African Americans. The 'N word' is used commonly now, but still has meaning if used wrong.
Interesting how you state the 2 words are equal, yet have only typed out one of them.

I can't stand it when some broad thinks that she's tough shit because she's go 20 guys standing beside her, and when she hits some guy she's "in the right".

Gay, straight, man or woman, you hit me I'll hit back...and you better slap me fucking HARD if you want me to stop.

Other than that...I'm pretty hot-headed, but I know when to keep my mouth shut. This guy should've seen this coming.

Hmm. The chubby guy in the black shirt had an... interesting way of punching. Can't imagine that it would have done too much damage. Still though, dogpiling the guy like that is just cowardice, assuming that the video wasn't biased in his favour.

The guy was a homophobic asshole. The woman shouldn't have hit him but when he tried to hit her back that wasn't "self defense". He was attempting to retaliate. She backed away as soon as she slapped him. It was an unfortunate event and ultimately everyone involved should have handled it better. I must say though, I think the most tragic thing about this whole incident is that no one involved seemed to have the vaguest idea of how to throw a punch.

Can't really judge a person to the point of violence based on their beliefs or they are no different than the people they dislike.

Still... that felt good to watch.

I'm surprised there hasn't been a comment on how they punched yet... because... wow.
they were punching like a bunch of fagg... wait

seriously, he might have been a dick, but she hit him first. she should have expected to get hit back. no matter how low those people think of him, i will always think of them as lower for group beating on 1 guy.

Yeah....this is uncommon to hear about. A straight guy in a Wafflehouse was in a conflict with a group of gay men for using the word "******". After a bit of yelling a he reaches out to slap a woman and proceeds to get beaten up:[link]http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshh3070esatamMh4A1b[/link]

With 'mob justice' and equal rights being kind of popular on the forums recently, I'd like to know your thoughts on the manner.

In my opinion this is weird to comment on. You almost never hear of a person being confronted much less beat up for homophobic remarks.
You forgot to mention the part where he was pressed up against a wall with an arm across his throat and the part where he was hit first. The guy didn't just reach out to randomly slap the woman, and he was already being physically threatened so he was acting in self-defense.
And, to be fair, we don't know how the incident got started. For all we know the gay people started it by picking on or otherwise harassing the straight guy.
According to the website he used the word "******" before anyone was recording and that's what set off the groups of gay man and women. I'll edit the description of the video though, thank you for pointing that out.

He was an ass for calling out the racial slurs but damn he didn't deserve to be beaten that badly. And then there's the whole she hit first thing, he's an ass but didn't deserve that bad of a beatdown, maybe just thrown out.
Agreed. What happened to 'sticks and stones'? The guys an arsehole and they could of called him something back. Also my rule is dont hit anyone without expecting them to hit back, regardless if your female. No one has the right to hit anyone, in some shitty areas of London you would be stabbed for that, hell you could be stabbed just for looking at a person for a milli second.

Being as objective as I can be, he didn't deserve it because he was defending himself.

This was going to be the part where I say "but I actually think he does deserve it because he's a homophobic asshole" but then I watched it again. I would have thought an entire group of gay people could put up with one homophobe. No need for the thousand slaps treatment.

But then again, if it gives him pause for thought next time he tries calling someone a ****** and means it, well...perhaps the ends justify the means.

"never seen so many people offended, we straight guys don't have to judge you, you have a much higher authority to answer to and if you don't change your wicked ways and repent then that's yo own ****** fault. you still should be ashamed, men and women run the world, not men and men or women and women. dick dont fit in dick it fit in pussy so why play with yourself like that"

In my view, the beat down was totally warranted. You could look at it as a kind of "manners coaching." Perhaps the fellow will think before he speaks in the future.

Well, they sure did a good job of justifying and probably cementing his hatred of them. They were all morons.
wait since when are gay people getting hate for being violent, i always thought it was along in lines of "it's unnatural" "the guy in church/mosque/temple/whatever said you are wrong" "the fact that you don't require females to get your sec on makes me uncomfortable in my sexuality" and our all time favorite "he's different, GET HIM BEFORE HE INFECTS US WITH HIS DIFFERENTNESS"

and yes, everyone caught on film in this scene is dumb

I'm not the kind of person to advocate a violent response, and we don't know the circumstances leading up to the start of the video though. I would say however, that the guy who received the beat down was obviously a bigot and, worst of all, a highly vocal one. I don't think that he received that much of a whooping (there was no blood on the floor that we could see), so I kinda feel like he deserved it.

Let me reiterate this, I do not advocate violence, but I feel that in a event like this, the actions of the group were closer to a parent giving a smack to their out of line child. The smacks obvious, the child obvious. I was occasionally hit by my folks an I'm fine.
