I am experiencing probably one of the strangest problems ever encountered with Steam and its multiplayer games ... and the few options that support offers doesn't cover it. There's probably a way to contact a human about this problem, but I figured that before I do that, maybe someone else has encountered this problem and can help me.
My problem is: Every SINGLE time I load up a multiplayer game like TF2 or Garry's Mod ... I LOSE INTERNET CONNECTION. Completely. It starts when I browse for servers. I can open the command prompt BEFORE doing that and, after typing the "ping 1.1.1.1" command, will get good ping rates. I go and browse for a server and my computer stops acknowledging the internet altogether. I can't even go online via Firefox or anything like that. And getting out of the game doesn't usually help.
Now, if I try different game servers and repeatedly and rapidly click the "join server" and "refresh" buttons and minimize the game and maximize it, I can sometimes gain connection, but it's not a guaranteed thing, and it is undoubtedly a pain in the ass trying to do so.
Has anyone here had this problem before? And if so, what made it stop? I'm using a wired connecting straight to the main box (I forget what it's called, but I think it's the router?), so it's not a wireless connection.
Thanks for helping!
