I have the strange habit of having a hard time of letting go of any unique weapon, armour etc. Especially, if it was a reward from a quest. I also tend to pick style over practicality, choosing the coolest looking stuff rather than the most useful. What are your strange habits? Do they hinder your progress at points?

On Oblivion, I tend to never let go of any loot I get in caves, ruins, etc.
I get over-encumbered a lot.

I also never sell any of said loot unless I find the maximum possible selling price.

I talk to everyone and inspect everything, to the point where I really annoy myself.

If there are two paths, I'll take one, and if I feel like I'm getting too far ahead, I'll backtrack and take the other to see where it leads (usually to a dead-end that was just off-screen).

I kill everything I see, regardless if I'm supposed to or not, or even if they help me later on.

All this is in Oblivion.

I hated giving up Umbra...it hurt me. Deeply.
And I was going to kill the unicorn eventually, but...the damned Hircine followers killed it after a freaking WOLF followed me back to their camp.
Methinks the hunters fail.

I also had a hard time giving up anything I even thought could be remotely useful.
So the house in the Imperial City was flooded with potions and books on the floor, stuff piled into the chests and other storage areas, and some staffs on the bed. It was quite interesting.

I save... ALOT.
Even if it's picking up one item, and it's right infront of me, I have to save. Granted, that's usually when I'm playing for a very short time before doing something else.

My srange rpg habbit is when i play a game I tend to level grind til i'm an even or nice round number (ie 10, 20, etc). I wayyyyy over-grind in nearly every rpg.
Also i tend to rely mainly on magic, and rarely use items, I'm an item hoarder, and if i can get through a game without using items, i will.
I also tend to save alot, and i mean like 3 times in a row, because i've lost so many save files in the past, i keep like 3 save files, as I've had them die on me, and get corrupted sooooo much, i'm now very paranoid.

this, and fight anything I see for grinding reasons, quite often in RPGs.

Same here. I just can't help the feeling that there's something super-vital (or at least a little useful) on the other path, and I never know if I'll be able to return...

I hope you don't play a druid...

I repair my gear obsessively or head to the repair vendors, even if I've not actually been out killing anything, just to make sure I'm on 100% durability.

Looking at 4x9g repair bills is better than one 36g repair bill, for my psyche anyway.

In party-based RPGs, I will frequently strive to keep my characters all at the same level, to the extent that I will not use a specific character, despite them being perfectly suited to the task at hand, because they levelled up earlier than the others.

I hate wearing heavy armor. I refuse to wear it, and even when I do wear it for any amount of time, I always go back to light armor, even if it is worse with no positives over the heavy armor. Oh, and I save a lot... walk for 5 minutes? Save. Loot a house? Save. Kill 2 guys? Save.

I do everything I can to see absolutely all the game content.

This makes me feel bloated and groggy by the end of it.

I never let go of old stuff for some reason. Like the wood sword you start out with. I sell the rest but I keep that one.

I have to keep at least one of every item, preferably carrying them around with me, arranged according to type and how cool it is. I deeply resent having to give any of them up, thereby ruining my lovely system.

After doing something to advance the story I have to run around speaking to everybody again, even if they haven't said anything different from the start of the game.

I tend to hoard items, even if they're completely useless and not worth much. My view is, while one may be cheap, several can be sold for a decent price. ^^
