That is one of Giygas's many myriad forms.

Is it from a game called Earthbound?

Is it any good?
IT'S AMAZING. It makes me orgasm whenever I play it. Probably the best modern RPG, set in a modern setting IMO.
LOL didnt know video games causes girls to orgasm XD

And a modern setting JRPG that doesnt suck?

does it have turn based combat? (cuz i really hate that)

Yes, and yes.

I'm surpised someone mentioned Castlevania's Menace, but not Final Graham, or the organ pile that was Dracula in Harmony of Dissonace.

1. Yes they can. Nom.

2. It's win. You smack possessed monsters and inanimate objects with frying pans, bats, and yo-yos.

3. No, real time, but the battle interface is unique.

4. Yep, SNES. Emoolate it now!
Got a link where I can emulate purchase it from?

And you sold me with real time strategy :)

I don't play as many games as I would like people to believe, but the stick weilding bosses from Condemned: Criminal Origins were very strange indeed.
While his majesty Yahtzee made the very prompt-worthy statement that things become less scary once you explain them in his review of the second game, Bloodshot, these bosses were never explained in full, or at all in the sequel.
While it's likely that they were redesigned for the sequel and we weren't shown this, like pretty much all the other characters, I saw no real proof of this and can still fool myself into thinking that they're mostly unrelated.

Besides, me and my friends would always give them funny names like "Roger" or "Sprinkles."

It's like FF Games and real time. You make your battle choices but at the same time enemies are making theirs. ;)

Hmm, I do not, but google does.
Fine I guess I will google it then :p

Well heres what I thought was a strange boss not the fight but the way you kill him.

You see his death through his eyes O_O

The second-to-last boss in Persona 4. I can't even remember what it's called, but it's this giant rainbow eyeball that rises from the ground. Creepy crap.

A lot of the bosses in P3 and P4 are weird-looking though.

La-Mulana

You know the Roving mauler? FRom DnD(maybe)

MAke it as big as a house, able to affect its own gravity (WTF), And give it a phase where it its apparently immune to gravity and WALLs altogether, and you have a boss in la mulana.

In the manual, I saw a picture of a one-eyed giant that, in order to move, needs to be pushed around by weird imp things.

la-mulana Has some WTF bosses.

I always thought the Human-Reaper from Mass Effect 2 was pretty strange.
Strange in concept, yes, but to me it just looked like a Terminator. To be honest It was a bit of a let-down when I actually fought the thing. All that build up, and it just didn't resolve properly for me.

My vote goes to the Final Boss in Borderlands.
I instantly thought of this when I read the topic of this thread. The Rakk Hive gets a close second.

The first boss in SH2. The spider with the handicap grin and fingers for legs.

My initial reaction is to laugh uncontrollably because it looked so stupid.

Then it kicked my ass.
Silent hill 2?
I dont remember any boss like that.
Sorry,

Shadow Hearts 2
