Happy light-hearted chorus then RAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGH. xD

I love the album art. It's kind of hilarious and ironic.

Strangeness is subjective and all, sometimes I listen to my "regular" music and think I'd have thought it was demented or evil when I was little. Ah well.

What's strange to you? What are some avant-garde/weird bands you can think of, or maybe some notable bands that were avant-garde in their day?

edit: bonus points if they can be weird without being morbid, but feel free to share the morbid ones too.

Deerhoof are my favorite weird band, with Chicks on Speed coming a close second.

Listening to Wordy Rappinghood. I like nonsense with a vague semblance of meaning. Actually, now that I've looked up the word semblance, I'm not sure. I think pop music more fits that description. There is good nonsense and bad nonsense; nonsense that is really not nonsense on a deeper level aka weird stuff. If it even has a deeper level, that is, maybe it's just something for pseudo-intellectual artsy types to twiddle around in their minds. Eugh. I like nonsense because I'm lazy and nonsense flows from my mouth so easily. I could ramble on and on but I'll shut up now.

As for Deerhoof, I heard one "meh" song and I'm checking them out again.

Strange huh?

Can't get much stranger than that.
Strangest parts are 0:57 and 1:17.

Generic emo chorus, though. I mean it might not technically be generic, but it sounds the same to me. I mean they sound like typical post-hardcore/"screamo"/metalcore clean vocals.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Three Little Pigs song by Green Jelly.

Though some of Voltaire's music would qualify too.

Horse the Band is a very odd little band. Punk rock with a splash of 8bit chiptune.

I present to you, 'Frontier Psychiatrist'.

Possibly the weirdest song I've ever heard and definitely the weirdest music video I've seen (and that's saying something).

edit: ninja'd!

The World/Inferno Friendship Society.

This is probably the only band that plays punk cabaret. I especially recommend the album "Addicted to bad ideas", which is a tribute to Peter Lorre.

If you haven't heard of him, check out Dr Steel for some eclectic mathcore with hints of world domination. For some reason I can't get onto the youtubes right now to cough up a link, but I recommend looking him up. Fibbonacci is my favouritest, but Back & Forth is great as well. Not sure if he's still out there, I don't think he has put anything out in a while.

Also, ninja'd. I was gonna mention Green Jelly's Three Little Pigs. Once when I was still in highschool I was going through a bunch of my dad's old metallica tapes and that was mixed in with them, I was like "Wait, what? Metallica sang a song about the three little pigs?"
