Shark that had been buried in the sand on a beach for a year (that's how they get the ammonia out in some places)

Some friends and I threw a "meat day" celebration back in March to experience unusual foods, with a "7 continents" theme.

We had North American Black Bear Sliders, Australian Rattlesnake Cakes (with a mango salsa), South American Iguana Soup, Asian Yak Fried Rice, Ethiopian Antelope curry (with lentils and greens), and European Wild Boar. And we renamed Baked Alaska to Baked Antarctica because honestly, Antarctic cuisine? Also, penguin was unavailable.

It was all pretty good except for the rattlesnake. The way they were prepared made 'em chewy & not too pleasant. Hoping to do it again sometime with new meats.

Eel. If you were wondering, it wasn't very good.
Was it BBQed? Sushi? How was it prepared?

---

I've had Unadon which is BBQ eel on rice with egg. Very good dish, especially if you're into Japanese food. I've also had alligator tail meat, fried. I've also eaten buffalo and, boar in the form of a hamburger. I am also a huge fan of seaweed. I love that stuff! And kangaroo tail meat, also fried
I believe it was teriyaki, but it could've been bbqed. It didn't say on the menu.

I've had buffalo before, but its been ages. I have a couple paddies in my freezer.

Go to the Phillipines and try Balut. It looks horrifying but it is seriously god damn delicious. A few beers, a few Balut and spend the night on the beach. Hmmmmm...

I was at a friend of mine's house for dinner one day; her parent's moved here from china and I ended up being offered a fish eye... It's really not THAT strange, but I consider it an achievement.

There's a very, very, very, very, VERY long and stupid story behind this, that I don't want to write down.

A lot of things where I'm currently living (Japan) are weird to me, but pretty standard to the locals.

Whole baby squid was probably one of the most personally difficult to eat dishes for me. I generally don't like the texture of whole creatures (clams, small fish, etc.) so it was pretty rough for me.

Cannabutter on toast. Grossest thing I've ever had. I would rather eat grass than do that again. I had to down it with like half a bottle of Gatorade and even then, it was horrid. My finished his and then threw up all over my sink.

Paper. I've eaten quite a few types so perhaps a good name for me would be "Paper Connoisseur", all under dares of course. What? You think I'd CHOOSE to eat paper? It tastes like crap and it's nearly impossible swallow. Some just taste less crap than others.
What brand, type, and thickness would you recommend? Also, do you have a favorite condiment to go with it?

Durian fruit that my Vietnamese roommate once brought into the dorm room and stunk up the place. It smelled so bad we locked him (and the fruit) out of the room until he agreed to get rid of it. People in the whole hallway were complaining. But before we locked him out he gave me a bite, and it was tasty and very fruity, just too bad about the smell. Durian fruit has the look and consistency of a pancreas and smells like a cross between rotting meat and a gas leak.

Also jellyfish at a Chinese restaurant springs to mind. We ate all of it, it wasn't too terrible, just strange, and I don't recommend it.

The strangest food in a good way was abalone tacos from fresh abalone I caught and prepared myself. It was a standard abalone prep with a replica of Rubios white sauce (watered down mayonaise with lime) and other fish taco trimmings, and it was by far and away the best taco I ever had. Fresh abalone has subtle hints and flavors of the north Pacific ocean, in all the best way.

Chicken Smoothie. Well, I call it a smoothie because I make it in a blender, but really it's a glorified soup. Diced chicken, chicken broth and mushrooms, in a blender, blended for.... a while. Serve in a mug with a spoon.
Interesting thing about the chicken smoothie, it's actually pretty good for you. Except for the sodium from the broth, it's completely hearth healthy; virtually no cholesterol, and has all the nutrients of mushrooms and chicken. Relatively inexpensive, hot and filling, and just so much fun to eat... drink... consume!
Incidentally, I'm a chef, studying to be a better chef, and I've become notorious for the chicken smoothie at my school.

I'm not a very adventurous eater but yesterday I took the buns from my burger, some curly fries, and ranch. The first few bites where good but the ranch to curly fry ratio was off and I didn't bother finishing it.

When I was growing up my family decided to stop buying frozen fish fingers. Any precooked frozen food I seem to have the uncanny ability to consume. I still do it in some cases, nothing like poping off a few frozen potato gems.
