Well, not in my school... but then again, I go to an incrediby posh private school which causes a huge fuss whenever they find someone with a little bit of weed (Leighton Park School), so I think my opinion is a bit biased.

That said, my previous school, one of the worst schools in my town, never actually had any stabbings... sure, it had alcohol/drug/tobacco, child abuse and even pedophilia, but no stabbbings.

Strange I know.
Leighton Park, I remember people saying about all the "druggies" there at my first secondary school! (Denefield)
Kind of funny when I think how Denefield was the absolute pits of the earth. :D

In fact we had a guy get stabbed, then when he had healed try to beat up the guy who stabbed him, and got stabbed again. Lot of stabbing going down.

When i was in highschool this redneck kid who was in my class got escorted out by an administrator. Everyone assumed before he was well down the hall they had either got a tip something was on him or in his car.

What they found was a crossbow, and it wasn't a teacher that found it but one of the students in the justice class. Our justice class goes out and helps our resrouce officer pass out tickets(because our resrouce officr is fat and lazy oh and so they can get expierence) so someone noticed something a little covered up, and from there shit went down hill.

He got kicked out for like a year or two over a crossbow, now he wasn't the dumbest redneck i've met he had a brain and i can just imagine him talking to his dad or friends saying its alright i just left it in there they'll never notice and why would it matter its a crowbow.... I couldn't get the picture out of my head of him walking down the hallway columbine style with a crosbow in hand, I didn't wanna laugh but it was so retarded that he got kicked for that.(now of course someone is gonna say no its not fair is fair)

See this is why I'm so glad I dropped out.

1 day after I left school, someone brought a gun and shot 6 people.

The shooter was in my class and I sat right by him. If I had stayed, I would be dead.

The underclassmen in my school are absolutly crazy.I'm a high school senior so this year is pretty laid back for me. The 10th graders have on average 4-6 fights a day. Our school has never had that many fights before, its terrible.

glad i gtfo'd out of cths... probably was a racial thing, too.

not racist, but about 1/5 of the people are white aussies there. the rest are asian, india, or other white.

johnson should stop talking about picking up rubbish and stop violence in that place

P.S. what happened to fist fights? everyone is so pussy now, they all have to carry knives coz they cant defend themselves. things should be more like england firms...

(watch green street hoodlums, you will understand)

Well, yes, if I'm completely honest.

But it's not thanks to the media or anything, it's thanks to most of them being complete and utter douchebags...
I vote for this. Kids today - usually the ones aged between 11 and 15 - have some sense of superiority and seem to have an impulse to act older than they are. They talk big, the goad and aggravate. They'll get put in their place when they're older, at least I hope so. Smug little shits.
Well I expect that every previous generation has felt the same way, so I'm trying not to judge them too harshly. However, I still think most of them are douchebags, and that's without being harsh.

That...actually makes a lot of sense. Most people who seem to retort with knives are either cornered 'dweebs' or hard-men trying to fit in with the cool crowd from most I've heard. People are too afraid of losing a fight now, and there's no sense of 'tradition' with it that there was in schools when I was younger; people used to be mostly one-on-one "meet me here" type fights where, admittedly, other people got often involved, and if you won there was a chance their big brother might come find you and tear your head off. Now, people will just go up in a big roving gang with weapons and consider it a fair fight.

Can't really say it's a big surprised though; if I thought I was going to get in a fight or went out looking for one, I'd consider bringing a weapon. Not a knife or anything so positively lethal, but I'd consider a small bat or something similar if Mr. Shit and Mr. Fan met up halfway through the right.

Metal detectors. It makes sense, and I'll explain my PoV if needs be.
They tried this at a high school down the block from mine. (I went to private HS, down the block was the City Public) It didn't stop anything. Just as many robberies and stabbings happened as the years before. Most shootings were held to after class. The problem isn't keeping weapons out of schools... They should be trying to find out why kids they bring them to schools in the first place. Taking away the knife doesn't get rid of the motivation they had to use it.

I think it's bullshit what has become of our schools there's no respect towards teachers and things we used to be able to have, are banned and grounds for serious ramifications. You want to use your folding knife to eat lunch or cut something and you can kiss your ass out of an education just because these thuggish little kids are insane.

sadly I think it is becoming a trend and the reason is that(to a lesser extent than politicians/advocacy groups would suggest) kids are becoming more agressive and de-sensetised by over exposure to violent media(both games and movies)

That doesn't work for all schools, though.
In California all of our schools have an open campus, so there isn't a place to put a metal detector. And even then, you could just have a buddy lob something you're not supposed over the fence. Or under the fence. Or even through the fence.

I'd say it's down to violent media. We defend violent games to stop the minority ruining it for the rest of us, i mean noone wants to see CoD or something being banned because of some whiny little kids thinking it's real life.

The fact is though that some kids are just fucking backwards and shouldn't be allowed to play these games, or watch violent films, because it's just a matter of time before they do something incredibly stupid.

They become desensitized enough that they think killing someone is an everyday occurrence just because some fictional asswipe told them so.

What is wrong with people these days? I don't get the point of hurting someone else except for a real good reason like self defense or you found them banging your missus.
