That's certainly... unusual.

I don't really buy that self defence thing though, I mean who would attack someone who's holding a motherfucking samurai sword?
My guess is the guy just wanted to try his sword.

Wow, crappy way to go, too much blood. Im staying away from your sword carrying baltimor neighborhood.
Haha, I should specify. I'm from Illinois and they had just linked to the Associated Press article in our paper. I've never even been to Baltimore.

Well here in Texas if someone comes or breaks into your house without your permission you are aquited of any charges.

God I love this state.

That doesn't say enough. Though for all of you who say he's done and jailed, He can claim self-defence if the guy attacked him first, and thus he's safe.

Yeah but I hope he can prove it and what-not. I've seen plenty of cases where self defence should have over-ruled but didn't and those cases had much more evidence than I believe this one will

Swords are dangerous. A cool bloke, I would have defended myself as well. Just not killed the guy.

If it had happened in Texas, he'd get off. It happened once before. I say it serves the intruder right. I myself have several swords, most of which are actually razor honed, and whenever I think there's an intruder in my house, you can bet your *ss I grab one of them lol.

Haven't heard of that one.
That kid's going to prison though.
Ain't that the truth. He might be able to get away with self defence, but a sharpened katana isn't to be sniffed at. Though that being said, what if it were a butcher knife from the kitchen instead?

...Let's hope that kind of thing doesn't happen again, huh?
Take away the "again" and that's pretty much me. I have two swords, and while if forced I would use them, I certainly wouldn't want to. That would have been a grisly end.

Wait, what's the stance on sharpened blades such as Katanas? I'm assuming this is the states, correct?

If he had a licence to use the sword & was attacked, Then awesome. Serves the sum right.

No way he should get into legal trouble for this. This is one of teh things i condone violence for, If somebody came into my house with intentions to steal my stuff and maybe hurt me if i got in the way? I dont know if he is armed, what he is capable of? If i catch him im going to attack him until he is not a threat in anyway and if that means dead then so be it.

Were they in their own homes? Dealing with B&Es? I sure hope not, or the juries in question just shafted them.
