Ive been thinking alot about moving/ studying in Canada.
and I dont mean an exchange visit. Im talking about going to canada and getting my degree there.. maybe work and create a life for myself.
I am going to contact the canadian embassy of course, but I could use some advice as to how its done.

I mean how do I pay the tuition fees ?(spelling)
How do I even apply.
How hard is it to get a canadian visa?
and since I dont even know any canadian people, abit of advice would be appreciated. Like. should I take a vaction there first?
any help anyone can offer will be very appreciated.

thank you :)

Christian from Denmark

I would definitely recommend taking a vacation to the place you may want to live in. It'll help you realize if you really do want to come here.

I can't really answer any of your questions, as I didn't have to move here, but I would welcome you with open arms if you decided to move. :)

thank you for the fast reply.
yes maybe a vaction is the right way to go, to start with.

I should probably check out where to go. Maybe a place near a college/university.

Don't listen to the pincar, he is trying to lead you astray! Come to Ontario, we got the great lakes and shit man!

But seriously take a long vacation and hang around the place you may want to live, because if you get there... your kinda stuck there. Well after the effort you'll have to go through you're theoretically stuck here.

I think I speak for most Canadians when I say that:

A) It's not nearly as cold as you think, it's tough to find an igloo, and there are no polar bears roaming the streets. Our last winter was actually quite mild.
B) If you take a vacation here, do NOT go to Toronto. I live about 30 minutes out, and that's pretty much as low as it gets in our county. I guess you could try if you're planning on moving into more of a city, but the West is like a completely different planet compared to Ontario.
C) We're all pretty friendly. And passive. That stereotype is true.
D) Our political leader (Iunno if it's a Prime Minister in Denmark) Stephen Harper's pretty clueless.
E) Quebec's pretty friendly to most English speaking folk, especially Montreal, but I'd never live there without learning the language first.

Hope that helps! Also, what school are you planning on attending?

EDIT:

Sure, go ahead and contradict what I just said. On the bright side, Torontonians DID invent the National Pillow Fight League. Yeah, you heard me.

You should hit up 'Couver.

But yeah, it might be an idea to scout out the place you're thinking of moving to before you commit to such a huuuge change.

Don't listen to him, come to Saskatoon :p We'll take you and offer you a free roughrider T-shirt!

OT: It is good you are considering taking classes here but I have to go with Marter on this one. Come over for a vacation and see if the climate treats you well.

Also, what degree are you looking at studying for? I may be able to direct you to universities that offer better courses.

Edit: The first person to mention the 12+1 man gets a PM!

You sir have now have the title of the best misspelling of the word "Pinsir". Not trying to make fun, but it's a neat observation.

And avoid Ontario, unless you want to be looked upon as the "Capital of the World" by the rest of Canada. :p

That was pretty good info for the man, they did WHAT? Toronto just went up a notch in my books.

I regret NOTHING! My way of spelling Pincar is best and you know it ! :p

Don't worry, he's just jealous since we are so awesome.

Plus I will reiterate what a previous poster said:

Our Prime Minister is a twat.

Personnally think you should hit up the prairies, either Calgary, Edmonton or my town of Winnipeg. If you were to visit Winnipeg, plan on visiting the beach and campgrounds north of here.

DO NOT GO TO TORONTO.

If I were you, I'd really look up the various universities and see what the international fees are. I know here at the University of Manitoba, my regular tuition is about 3500$ a year, not counting books, food, place to stay. But the international fees are closer to 14000$ a year and up. (ridiculous I know). As far as I know, most of Canada is like that, international fees are crazy high. (Please note, the U of M's tuition of 3500$ a year undergrad is one of the cheapest places in Canada, most places being 5-8000$ a year tuition for Canadians.)

To sum it up, if I were you, I'd check out international tuitions fees at the major canadian universities to compare prices. Sure hope you make it to this great country bro.

Toronto especially. Here it is known as "The wannabe New York of Canada".

A similar idea has crossed my mind, and I haven't ruled it out yet. What I can recommend is to just check on the websites of whatever university you wish to apply to. They should have all the information you need vis-a-vis the application process.
Good luck with your emigration :)

You guys really think that moving to a city where the average home price is $1 000 000 is a good idea for a student? I like Vancouver as well, but the housing prices are ridiculous.

Take the VIA Trans Continental Tour and see which province you like best from out the window.
Rail coast to coast in 10 days.

Im looking for a degree in English, I love the language. (I know.. there probably aren't that many jobs or scholarships for an international wanting to come to an almost-english speaking nation to study english)

I've got a friend in england, and there they have a system where a bank can lend you money for the tuition fees?
Im wondering if the same thing is possible in Canada?
because Ive got a feeling that if I have to save up all the money first..
Well that could take some time.
I love the city, but I also want to live near the great forests and lakes.
After my time in the army and navy I've become really interested in survial-trips and camping in the woods. The great out doors you know :)
Oh and don't worry, Im not a hunting man, I won't shoot your moose/mooses/moooseses? (how do you spell that in plural :O )

Hmmm, lakes you say? Well, as much as it pains me to say it, Manitoba has a lot to offer for camping, fishing, hiking, etc. We do have a student loan program here in Canada but I am not totally aware of how it works yet. It is cool that you want to get into English but I would recommend also studying in another field as to make you more attractive to possible employers.

I would definitely save up first though, as it has been mentioned that international students pay more (local students are favored here) and don't be afraid to mention your service in the Danish armed forces.

Also don't worry about hunting here. As long as you obey the law, you can hunt to your hearts content (in season that is). Also moose is the plural of moose.
