Some games help you get exposed to other interesting things. The Bionic Commando series' new games helped me find Simon Viklund (a great electronic music artist), and Machinae Supremacy (a band whose music I just started looking through). Did any game help you find some else you enjoy? If so, which one was it, and what did it help you find?

It's kind of shameful for me to say this, but I was only properly introduced to the Rolling Stones' discography by Call of Duty: Black Ops. Also, World in Conflict was what got me into my favorite song, "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" by Tears for Fears.

The original Borderlands is what got me(and I'm sure many others) into Cage the Elephant, who are now one of my favourite bands.

Also, way back in the day I played Age of Mythology, which gave me a healthy jump start to my interest in Greek/Roman Myth and Relgiion. Its cool stuff.

My two favourite franchises are Assassin's Creed & Total War...

Would you care to hazard a guess what they've gotten me interested in?

Treyarch helped me find Avenged Sevenfold

Thank Gods (and Jim) for that!

BioShock also helped me to read Atlas Shrugged.... The game was much better!

Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura seriously got me into mixing magic and steampunk.
I love writing my own confrontational magic/industrial revolution stories because of genre. Thank you Arcanum-- glitchy but my favourite game of all time!

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City got me to find The Electric Light Orchestra. Been a fan since I was 13, and this makes GTA:VC one of my favorite games on top of that.

I can't say too much more than that, really.

It's not any one game specifically, but playing several games that had ties to past real world events helped me discover my fascination with history.

The Transformers: Fall of Cybertron trailer exposed me to the song "The Humbling RIver". I absolutely love that song.

Persona 3 & 4 increased my interest in ancient Greek and Japanese mythology.

The Fallout series got me into much older music.

CoD taught me that I can't shoot for shit in real life. ._."

The Darkness had a music video from the band The Duskfall when it came out, now one of my favourite bands. Borderlands 1 gave me Cage the Elephant. Surprisingly, the Rock Band/Guitar Hero games didn't really introduce me to anyone new. The stuff I liked I already knew, and the stuff I didn't know I didn't care for. Aside from that, I tend to go "Hey, cool. That band is in this game! Awesome!".

A lot of FPS games got me into learning to shoot. And apparently gave me a slight edge over my other family member when I was taken out to the range, since I knew (roughly) how to hold various weapons. (I dislike holding rifles, the way I can hold them comfortably makes them awkward to shoot and reload. Holding them effectively makes it hard to hold comfortably).

Bioshock was my first foray into Steampunk, which I still find more interesting than any other "standard" setting (Modern, medieval, cyberpunk, steampunk). Unless you count the intro of FF6 to be steampunk.

Guitar Hero introduced me to various bands

Lots of games (mostly RPGs), got me interested in various Mythologies.

Halo 2 helped me discover Breaking Benjamin. The part where you are fighting the Elites and Brutes in the Mausoleum of the Arbiters to be specific.

Ooh. Video games made me a musician. In a way.

I wouldn't be sitting here and strumming along to Amon Amarth's "Hermod's Ride to Hel" on a Gibson Explorer if it wasn't for SSX Tricky. See, it's a colourful snowboarding game with several playable characters, and they all had biography sheets. My favourite character was called Psymon, and his sheet said his favourite bands were Napalm Death and Slayer. So I bought a CD by Slayer, and from there it's all been downhill.

A snowboarding game has made me a failed metal musician! How cool is that? :D
Not very.

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology introduced me to the rest of the Tales series, and I love it for that. It was also a great game on its own and I wish we would get the 2 sequels.

This is the one and perhaps only thing that springs to mind.

So have this!

Of course, I now can't not think that Mordecai is the singer.
